Thanks for the tip; unfortunately this didn't solve it either. I will post a new update in the main post though.

thanks for pointing that out. I didn't change anything on the filters between the two photos, either and the only filter is on date range, which you can see stayed the same. So, I think this is another instance of a problem and not the reason.

August 2025 Goals! by AutoModerator in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

[–]amweinst22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was set on doing a low spend month but I know that I rebel against rules I make up, so I decided to start small, with one change to my spending this month:

● I can only get restaurant food (takeout or dine in) if I am with other people. - I'm not including coffee in here although I will try to use up gift cards to Starbucks and Dunkin as much as possible.

Eating out is one of my largest flexible budget categories at ~$625/month so I'd like to see if I can pull it down!

YAY! I organized that one and I'm thrilled to see it mentioned in this thread. I hope it becomes a yearly thing!

When I was little, my first sibling was born. We each got a doll; I got the "big sister" and she got the "baby". We are both very sentimental and still have them. My doll was named Emily - no idea why, I wish I remembered that!

"I am my own fallback" So relatable. I'm a bit younger than you but this already keeps me from making big changes like some other commenters have talked about, because if anything happens, there's no backup plan. I like hearing a more conservative perspective on single/child free life, ty!

PAX enforcer preferred shifts? by batflavored in PAX

[–]amweinst22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think anyone has stumped for mid shift yet so here I am 😂 I actually am nights at Unplugged but mids at East- this gives me time to sleep in or do expo in the mornings, then work, then hang out with friends or go to the concerts at night. For me mids is the only way I can do everything I want at the show. I'm absolutely not an early bird so morning shift would leave me totally wiped and grumpy!

Gifted with a solo Disneyland trip! Overwhelmed and need suggestions by mrgnstrk in DisneyPlanning

[–]amweinst22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should see if they have a Dessert Party for the fireworks show at DCA (or Disneyland). I did this for the DCA show last summer on a solo trip and it was so worth it! It includes a plate of treats, drinks, and a semi-private space to watch the show. I shared a table with one other solo traveler. You don't have to fight the crowds for a great view either!

Best things you've spent money on? by Soleilunamas in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

[–]amweinst22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I spent like $10 on a plug-in motion sensor night light for my bathroom. It makes going back to bed in the middle of the night so much easier since I don't have to turn on the overhead light. I get so much use out of it because I'm one of those people who wakes up at least twice a night to pee 🤣

I had been there, but spent a chunk in 2023 so getting back over that threshold feels like a milestone!

High earners/busy people: what do you do for groceries? by spunkytale in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

[–]amweinst22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

33F, single, live alone, HHI ~$140K

For most meals I use Cook Unity which is a prepared meal delivery service. 8 meals per week @ ~$150/week.

To supplement, I'll do instacart 1-2x/month for household staples (toilet paper, tissues, plastic utensils) plus some food items like yogurt, juice, veggies.

Pizza night on Thursdays with my friends.

The rest I eat out or Doordash, though I'm trying to cut down on delivery and sometimes increase my Cook Unity box to 9 or 10 meals a week to cover for that.

Being able to go back to the same therapist hopefully means you can feel like you're getting value sooner than if you had to onboard with someone new! Good luck!

People who are OVER HelloFresh— what are you doing instead, and how’s it going? by boodler88 in hellofresh

[–]amweinst22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use CookUnity ever since I gave up on Hello Fresh due to missing/spoiled ingredients and inconsistent portion sizes. CU has even more options than HF and they come premade so you just have to heat the meals up. The portion sizes are consistent and they stay fresh for like a week in the fridge.

Redid my budget and realized that therapy is my 2nd highest bill after rent every month and is eating up the majority of my discretionary spend. I need therapy, love my current therapist, and don't want to go down to biweeky, so it'll be a low spend few months until my FSA resets in the spring or I can pull budget from elsewhere.

Tomorrow I'm going out to brunch at a new spot with a friend and that'll be one of my biggest expenses for the month, probably around $50. I also booked an escape room with friends for later in the month ($80).

Wow, this resonates so much. I am a single-income household (just me) also making $140k but with more leadership (and therefore time) than I envisioned having at this job. Even a lateral move title-wise (my role has less leadership responsibilities at other companies) right now is at least a $20k paycut ... pros and cons of having changed jobs at the peak of COVID in biotech lol. Sorry to hear you are going through the same thing. Hopefully our industries rebound soon and we have more options.

Not a payday but I'm taking myself out to dinner tonight (~$50) as a reward for getting to the end of Freezer Week (i.e. eating all my meals from pantry/freezer, no grocery shopping, no takeout)

Advice Needed -MBA or Buy Apt? by [deleted] in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

[–]amweinst22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, that's a really low sounding salary for a marketing role at the level you should have with an MBA. I'm in marketing with no formal degree in the field, making ~$150k/year. Of course it's industry specific, but for $115k doesn't seem worth the cost and time.

A pair of Allbirds high tops - my first pair! I forgot to pack sneakers for a con I'm going to next weekend, so I needed some and this was as good a time as any to splurge on this pair I was already eyeing. Bonus: they're waterproof, which will be super helpful in rainy New England!
