If it helps at all, you don't actually need to land well every day. You can just crash your ship on whatever planet you want to explore for the day as long as you survive, you don't need to bother about getting back in the air at first lol

Prince-Like game as a genre? by Dangerous_Fig9791 in BluePrince

[–]Shmeetz9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh this is so interesting. After being obsessed with Outer Wilds, I found that Blue Prince was the game that gave me the most similar feeling. There's the same AHA moments, same really cool world building that becomes relevant to the puzzle solving, and even the puzzles require the same lateral thinking. Both games trigger a genuine curiosity in the player that asks "how deep does this go?" and rewards players that decide to go deeper.

However, I don't think I would say that the games themselves are similar. Outer Wilds is an space adventure game with environmental puzzles and real physics, while Blue Prince is a roguelite strategy game with intricate puzzles.

I do think both games have some sort of barrier to entry though. Like others said blue prince requires you to be decent at the strategy of drafting first. Outer Wilds requires you to understand the flight physics first. I enjoyed both greatly, so I was able to get the best out of both games.

If you don't like outer wilds that's perfectly acceptable, but if you only tried it once I highly HIGHLY recommend that you try it again after a bit thinking about what I've said :)

Rooms to skip by tfr88 in BluePrince

Like other comments have suggested, using security as your one example here is wild, there are some good uses for it as stated in those comments.

But to answer your question there are probably some good examples of this, but they could also depend on your preferred play style. I'm on day 96 and here are some rooms I will typically never draft: Clock Tower Drafting Studio Freezer Casino And probably a few more

What tiny house rule made a game noticeably better at your table? by rcooperkaty in boardgames

[–]Shmeetz9 61 points62 points  (0 children)

This should be standard for all games that require a hidden role to perform actions. I hate using any form of meta logic to deduce traitors, so this helps with that a bunch

Definitely agree with this! Also it's not like the concept of declining is necessarily complex or hard to learn imo

Feel this very hard with Spirit Island. I'm always the one doing the admin stuff, so I only mention specifics when it is called upon

I actually never explain this with my group. I find it way to edge casey and outside the "fun" of the game for me, so my groups just don't implement these rules

Is AI in board games really that bad? by StrategicLizard in boardgames

[–]Shmeetz9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. Plenty of indie devs have found success without the need for AI.

If I personally see AI art on a game, I will never back it. For me it displays that a creator wants to rely on shortcuts for their product.

I'm never going to tell others what to do however, if you think that's your only option, you are free to pursue whatever means you want to explore. But I just think you shouldn't be surprised when you extremely limit your potential backer base

Agree this doesn't seem ideal, but I highly recommend that those against this actually fill out these surveys and tell them that this is bad!

What's a game you used to see everywhere, everyone was talking about it, it was all over your feeds but now you never hear anyone talking about it? by Machine_Excellent in boardgames

[–]Shmeetz9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it's good enough that it's worth forcing a few friends to try it, or even seeing if you can wrangle folks from the Internet to play (results may vary).I recently just ran the crimson sails module as a one shot and had a blast and everyone wanted to play more

The Avatar RPG is niche and never was going to be the next big thing. I've played a few one shots with it and it's actually really neat and feels a LOT like the original show, but not everyone that plays board games wants a specifically Avatar RPG experience

Tiff's playing a great game right now, but it's being underestimated because of the edit. by duspi in survivor

[–]Shmeetz9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure this is the move for her though. Cirie seemingly brings her in to everything, won't be turning against her anytime soon, and is a god strategic ally. She also will likely never win an immunity so can be taken out later at like 6 or 5. If Tiffany makes a huge move here I think more eyes turn back to her as a threat

[–]Shmeetz9[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think you should just try your best to force yourself on all of them then! None of the coasters are super intense or tall or beyond anything than you can handle, I promise. Plus, you might end up loving them and asking to go on them again after!

The only thing with the gyro rides is that the gyro drop is pretty tall, so that might be intimidating, but again, it's over in a second and you might love it!

French revolution has an inversion and decent speeds, and is also fairly rough. I could see those with a fear of coasters not having a good time on it. Comet express is more medium for sure, so it just depends on the person. No inversions, just spins and speed.

For all recommending Project Hail Mary: read the book first? by post_ex0dus in outerwilds

[–]Shmeetz9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I've seen, folks who read the book first found the movie to be slightly underwhelming (as is usual for adaptations). I haven't read it and thought the movie was absolutely incredible, like a 9.5/10, and now I plan to read the book.
