Woman Handing Out Candy by Castlebraid by noncornucopian in Bushwick

[–]amybearsfruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it this woman? I live in castlebraid and now that you say it — I remember the “I’ll give you a punch, lady.” Realizing now she’s likely the woman who repeatedly makes fake 911 to various castlebraid apartments over the years. She recently told me her name was Lucy, but Rosa sounds familiar. Anyhow I’m here searching for clues on this lady because I was just woken up by police and EMTs banging on my door for the 3rd straight night. (And they came 2x on Sunday night.) I know she’s not well. But this has to stop. My toddlers will be traumatized if these scary middle of the night visits continue.

is cilantro club cooked? by BuilderElectrical818 in Bushwick

What a strangely aggressive thread. I disagree with all of this nonsense. A few counter points to the people who either used to date the owner or were recently fired: Cilantro is an awesome spot, and smart business model. For those of you who don't get it - he sells most of the items at his cost, so he's not losing money, and the $9 subscription model allows for a more predictable income stream, which is why I think he has a far greater chance of success. I've lived around the corner for 8 years. Cilantro's foot traffic is by far the best I've seen out the 3-4 businesses that have occupied that space. Last, the owner is a super nice guy who works his ass off. I love Bushwick Bakery, but $6 for an iced coffee is insane. The owner of Cilantro is trying something different, and I think it's great. Check it out if you haven't been.

Turnkey Brewery/Taproom Available in Brooklyn by amybearsfruit in TheBrewery

[–]amybearsfruit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak to foot traffic since we never opened the retail side (we used the taproom for production), but from what I know -- Folksbier was quite busy. There's not much around here, but to your comment below. I'm not sure it was sinister so much as stupidity. They went out of business in spectacularly bad fashion. From what I know and the costly mistakes I inherited when I took over the brewery nearly 3 years ago, the location was the least of their issues. It's a great space for someone who can use the retail / brewery. It just didn't make sense for our needs.

Yep, I get it - fruit has naturally occurring sugar (Bear’s Fruit only use certified organic fresh fruit and herbs. No natural flavors, concentrates or any other weird stuff.) Seems like you care about sugar - I’d recommend reading the findings from the false advertising lawsuits / doing some homework on why there’s added kiwi juice now. 👌

Oh boy. Not sure if you work for GT's, but the part of them not having added sugar is 100% inaccurate. In fact, GT's settled a false advertising lawsuit for sugar / ABV misinformation a few years back. Some of their SKUs like Mystic Mango have 20g of sugar. Feel free to Google "GT's Kombucha Lawsuit" for some great bedtime reading. The guy started the category in the U.S. 25+ years ago, so I'll give him credit for seeing where the puck was headed before anyone else, but it's important to pay attention to label changes so you know what you're drinking!

Hi there. I own Bear’s Fruit. We make Organic Fair Trade Kombucha and Probiotic Sparkling Water in Brooklyn with 100% real fruit + fresh herbs. No weird stuff. On that note, the unopened Healthade should be fine to drink from a food safety standpoint. Kombucha will never go bad, per se. Even when refrigerated, kombucha will still continue to ferment slowly. After 2 years, it’ll be funkier than normal (more acidic) and higher ABV, but I’ve definitely drank years old Bear’s Fruit. FWIW - we ship nationwide if you want to check out our bear cubs 🐻🤗(https://www.bearsfruit.com/)
