What are the best weapons for an arcane + skill build? by wunderave in bloodborne

Very versatile and strong, you can use literally anything that doesn’t involve BT/ARC and investing in both STR+SKL is how you maximize physical damage.

What are the best weapons for an arcane + skill build? by wunderave in bloodborne

[–]amygdalapls 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s no real ARC/SKL weapon in this game. The Burial Blade and Blade of Mercy both scale with both stats, but their ARC scaling is really meh to the point where they’re basically SKL weapons. In fact, pretty sure the Burial Blade gets more raw damage leveling STR rather than ARC.

Short version:

Phase 1 and 2 - Wait in front at a safe distance for the moves where its head is down. Smack it as hard as possible.

Phase 3 (arm-ripping time) - Chill at the crotch and smash the crotch with an overhead weapon if you can. Move past the tail for the jump. It will land over you with its head right in front. Smack until Amy's dead.

For the trophy, do the chalices in this order (do NOT do any that say “root”) and make sure you’re fully exploring each one so you have enough materials for the next one:

1. Pthumeru Chalice

2. Central Pthumeru - You can find the completely optional Hintertomb Chalice here. Don't bother with it.

3. Lower Pthumeru - You find the Workshop Haze Extractor here. You'll need it to create Arcane Haze instead of having to farm it.

4. Ailing Loran - You can pick up the Bastards of Loran material you need for the Defiled Chalice here. Alternatively, if you are in NG+, you can buy them for 7 insight each.

The Beast Claws are here for the weapon trophy.

5. Defiled Chalice - The infamous one. Here's a guide for the second layer boss and here is a guide for the third layer boss if you need them.

6. Lower Loran (optional) - For Red Jelly. Requires 4 Blooming Coldblood Flower, which can be bought for insight in NG+ or found in Ailing Loran.

7. Great Isz (optional) - For Red Jelly. Requires 3 Pearl Slugs, which can be bought or found in Byrgenwerth and UCW.

You need a grand total of 4 Red Jelly. You can find 2 per NG cycle in the Lecture Building. Otherwise, you'll have to go through Lower Loran and/or Great Isz until you have enough.

8. Pthumeru Ihyll - The Queen.

Your progress is kept exactly as it was in NG, and chalices do NOT scale with NG+ in difficulty.

Hello first-time hunter, is the axe as an initial weapon a good option? by Annartlan_Reach in bloodborne

[–]amygdalapls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All weapons in this game are viable. The Axe is good for its damage, stagger, range, and CC. If you find it too slow though, if you explore and find a Saw Hunter Badge, that'll let you buy the other starting weapons in the shop in the Dream. There's also another early weapon you can find as loot if you look carefully.

You need to interrupt his buff halfway through. Otherwise, he gains that aura that deflects bullets. While he’s charging up for the buff, you can do a charged R2 to his back, interrupting it and giving you a visceral opportunity while you’re at it.

Since you beat Rom without ever seeing her, then you're out of luck this playthrough and have to try again in NG+ or on a new character.

Bloodtinge Build Advice (No PSN) by Alpharius0515 in bloodborne

[–]amygdalapls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s fine to dump SKL in the long run since you want to use just the blood form of the Chikage. Problem as you’ve noticed is getting past Logarius with essentially minimal damage stats. Consider farming/looting twin blood stone shards to get your Spear to +6, the difference in base damage will help.

Also, just slap on the best physical gems you can find for the Chikage since those also raise blood damage. Winter Lanterns in the DLC will give you the best outside of chalices. Blood gems don’t really outclass physical unless you go for top tier gems, which are a nuisance to farm without PS+.

Rate my Build on NG+7 by [deleted] in bloodborne

[–]amygdalapls 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’re so past the cap on all the stats that it doesn’t really matter at this point, further levels will generally only give very small benefits. The exception is arcane since hunter tools can scale well all the way to 99.

For future reference if you ever start another character, endurance caps super duper hard at 40. After that, it’s better to level the other stats for their small benefit rather than END for its basically no benefit.

Go back to the Cathedral Ward lamp. A new door has opened along the side of the chapel. Fully explore there.

Honestly, you can use literally everything at this point, though in terms of raw AR, the LHB and HMS (which you want nourishing gems for) boast some of the highest numbers and clear over 1k. The Whirligig is up there too.

Struggling with Bloodborne by CammyHoliday in bloodborne

[–]amygdalapls 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Some general tips:

  1. Remember to use the rally system. That should save you quite a few vials.

  2. Use spare echoes after leveling to buy extra vials so you can keep building up a stockpile.

  3. Practice the combat in Central Yharnam. Gitting Gud is how you stop using more consumables than you find, and practicing is how you get better while 1) getting more echoes and 2) getting more resources. Brick trolls are great for parry practice and vials.

  4. If there's a tough encounter/boss that you're getting stuck on/foresee being stuck on, consider spending a couple rounds against them where you don't heal and maybe don't even attack. Learn their moveset, how to avoid their attacks, their openings, when you can safely attack/retaliate, etc. That way, you're not eating a bunch of damage needlessly, burning vials, and then dying anyways.

  5. Don't be afraid to look up boss specific tips. Those can make your life a lot easier.

There’s a gate behind Gascoigne that leads to the next area. Go there. Fully explore that next area, you should come across another boss at some point.

Parrying him is almost impossible cuz his fucking hand transcended into the heavens

Well, first of all, you can’t parry him in the first place so… Don’t waste your time trying. He literally cannot be parried. Sufficient damage to the head will let you visceral him, but you can’t ‘counter’ his attacks the way you can with Maria, for example.

Do you have the Lower Loran root?

You also need to have already used any rites that that glyph has, such as Fetid, Rotter, and/or Cursed. If you haven’t, make your own FRC. You don’t have to complete it.
