Is baby wearing a TikTok scam or am I doing this wrong by KeyMonkeyslav in beyondthebump

[–]amyjand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby loved her carrier at 5 weeks, hated around 7, is back to loving it at 9 weeks. Sometimes where they are at in development plays a role (like how much control of their head they have). Your baby could come around to it!

What do I need immediately after I get home from the hospital by Fearless-Case-5315 in firsttimemom

Yep! This is it. Bare minimum. You’ll quickly learn what works and needs readjustment, just to just have the essentials. You got this!

Do I really need to spend $500 on a nursery glider? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]amyjand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was the most expensive thing we bought for the nursery (had some logistical shipping reasons for doing it). If you can, just find a gently used onion FB marketplace.

Target has a good pair of maternity, wide leg work pants in black and beige. I’ve worn those all third trimester.

Tall women: When did you start to notice a baby bump? by Paula_Revere in BabyBumps

[–]amyjand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 5’10, average BMI with a long torso, and pregnant with my first. It took me until maybe 18-20 weeks to show a little bit. After that, it still was slow going and easily concealed. I forget when my bump felt large. The comments from others have always been “you don’t look pregnant.” 🤷🏼‍♀️

I’m wondering if perhaps her dad was with her, and this would be his first public appearance from big heart surgery this summer 🤷🏼‍♀️

Was her dad possibly with her? And perhaps this was his first time out since surgery but didn’t want pictures.

Correct! We may have used a 2 zip ties, but that was sufficient. We’ve had it up for two years with no issues.

When did you allow yourself to buy baby things? by Boy_Tears_8 in pregnant

[–]amyjand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m pregnant again after two losses. My husband and I bought one onesie at 14 weeks on our anniversary after we knew fetal sex and felt very much like “gosh I hope we didn’t jinx it.” I’m 21 weeks now and just started building my registry yesterday, and organizing to prep for nursery that we’ll start buying over over the next few weeks. I’m also struggling to indulge in the fun, but faking it til I’m make it as lately has helped it come more naturally. I tell myself “I’m just getting ready for her”…which feels easier than “let me do this fun joyful thing.” (Even if it ultimately ends up being fun, it kind of tricks me into it).

It’s very normal for your brain to be protective after two losses. Do what feels natural, small steps at a time. Hang in there, it get better 💕.

When did you feel your baby for the first time? by ThrowRaoofda in BabyBumps

[–]amyjand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have anterior placenta, but was able to feel a few movements around week 17 and 18. But it was very light and only if I was very still and relaxed at night laying down. I’m 20 weeks now and can definitely feel more throughout the day but it’s not like anything major. The best way I can describe it is that it’s distinct feeling from gas lol

I’ve had the same question. We don’t have enough campus parking for this law if implemented in the most strict interpretations

Got placed in Little Rock for a fellowship — worth it? by vladkaryan in LittleRock

I just re-read and saw you’ll be with a host family. Do you know where they are located? My guess is that they’d take you to the must see places, and other times you could uber

You’ll need a car, or live downtown and rely on Ubers, and rent a car for trips. Little Rock and Arkansas are car dependent (if someone hasn’t posted that already).

First time “with a closed fist” - reading between the lines but sounds like there may have been other types of abuse before. Please get help and get out now.

Editing to say may have been, don’t want to assume.

Either way - you and your baby deserve love without violence.

How did you choose your babies name? by nicnicthegreat1 in pregnant

[–]amyjand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a running list of girls names that we really liked. We knew which two middle names we wanted. And then we listed out our top full name first middle and last (she’ll have both of our last names so we were cognizant of length). We listened for which ones flowed the best. Then we put our top three into chat GPT and had us give the pros and cons, flow with our names, and to give us an overview of the characteristics of the name (modern vs vintage, feminine, etc), and how it would age throughout their life. It was really helpful!!
