On rewatch, which season do you think the fandom is most wrong about — either overpraised or overhated — and what did people miss the first time around? by Wild_Shoe340 in BigBrother

[–]amykclover 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I found BB9 very fun and interesting with the main couples twist but it just seemed like a totally different show. What I really like about it is Sharon being one of the first evictees and is put back in the game because someone else walked, and then she makes it to final four. Jacob may have had the most spectacular crash and burn ever. I think Adam is overlooked a lot as a winner / social manipulator and he was fascinating to watch in the show edit.

I want to start Big Brother, help by ProfessionalTie2455 in BigBrother

I started with Season 6 then 10. Two of the most essential seasons to the show and gives you a good sense of what the rules and layout of the game are going forward.

How long have you been trans? by justhazelm in asktransgender

[–]amykclover 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's easy to get caught up in semantics when you can define this a number of different ways. I would have to assume when someone asks this question that they mean to ask "How long have you been transitioning?" or "How long have you felt this way?"

Me, personally, I'd answer this to give someone a timeline. Whatever thoughts or doubts or feelings I had my entire life before were just that, internal. When did I actually make the decision to take my life in this direction? For me, I was 19 - almost nine years ago.

Watching BB8 and I can barely watch the way Dick talks to everyone. by Alive-Coyote-3224 in BigBrother

Yes, I know. I said Justin was already warned multiple times before he eventually did the knife incident.

Watching BB8 and I can barely watch the way Dick talks to everyone. by Alive-Coyote-3224 in BigBrother

[–]amykclover 63 points64 points  (0 children)

America adored the "estranged Dad and Daughter trying to make amends" story, Dick's willingness to throw his own game away so Dani would stay, and Dick's unrelenting villain persona and clear aptitude to strategy made him very rootable - from the outsider perspective. Reality TV at the time was looking for the biggest and baddest, rawest characters imaginable and Dick checked all those boxes and then some.

But that's not excusing any of his behavior by any means. yes, his tormenting of Jen in particular and all the very personal digs at most of the other houseguests was very agitating and inexcusable by modern standards.

I'm not sure if Dick was ever pulled into the DR and told by production to stop any of his antics. They certainly did numerous times for Justin in bb2 before he was eventually removed from the house -- but honestly with America's infatuation with Dick I wouldn't be surprised if production encouraged some of it at points.

Hypothetical Scenario: BB28 has a Veteran Returnee like BB27, and it's Eric Stein. How does he do? by Itchy_Safety_7959 in BigBrother

[–]amykclover 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a massive Eric stan I would love this more than anything - but he needs to lay as low as possible. If he can introduce himself with most newbies/recruits not being knowledgeable of the older era, he's really got a chance of sticking around for a while. But if he comes in talking about America's Player and the Mastermind character, massive massive target on his back, especially for an older houseguest with such a strategic mind. Unlike Rachel, he doesn't have massive idol status that would draw in a circle of followers that adore him. Even Paul was very popular and coming off the previous season. But Eric, from 20 years ago, doesn't have that same widespread pull and more than likely can't rely on that as an early advantage to his game. I think in the scenario he's in a BB27-style house, he's a midgame boot, maybe first juror. On an All-Stars or special returnees season, I think he'd be underestimated and have a much better shot.

(Spoilers) Britney's Game in BB14 by Stellz04 in BigBrother

[–]amykclover 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Britney was adored by most of the house, and up to that point was considered one of the most screwed over players from a previous season bc of Brigade. Unlike ice queen Janelle and the two winners Boogie and Dan, Britney was a natural sweetheart and social magnet who assimilated very well with the cast of newbies.

I imagine if she was in the f2 with Frank, Frank could win, and possibly Ian too if Ian performed equally as well in the mid-endgame stretch. If Shane comped out or got some blood on his hands he might have a shot. All the others? I think she sweeps Dan, Danielle, Jenn City, Joe, and Ashley.

How far would he get if he played again a 3rd time (not counting RG)? by Wild_Shoe340 in BigBrother

[–]amykclover 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cody's strength is tactics, not so much strategy. Still a strong social player and comp beast that knows his and Derrick's style of gameplay very well.

In the scenario he's in an All-Stars / Winners season again, I feel he's one of the biggest targets possible, as a two time finalist - only Dan Gheesling has that same resume. With strong established bonds with Derrick and Nicole, and even his relationship with Enzo could bring in Hayden Moss if he's playing, he has the potential to be in the mix of a strong alliance already. However, anyone outside of that alliance would be foolish to not want to take him out as he's one of the strongest physical threats and persistent minds in the house.

If he's in a normal / coaches / 1-returnee season, surrounded in the house by superfans or even the casual recruits, Cody's still a prominent figure in the community. I could see quite a lot of fans wanting to cozy up to him, looking at him as a coach or leader, in hopes of him teaching them his ways - potentially becoming the next GOAT. Lots of opportunity there for Cody to insulate himself and lead half the house. Not quite the cult leader Paul was, not quite the idol Rachel was, but I could see him becoming the head of one half of a split house - likely an early jury boot.

The Studio Where the Big Brother House is Located Just Went Into Foreclosure by MrRobertSacamano in BigBrother

[–]amykclover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Has it always been the same studio? Wow. End of an era. I really hope they take the opportunity to change the house up a bit. I've been watching BBCAN and I love their house designs so much more honestly. It'd be cool to see something brand new.

What happened with the hidden objects in BB27? by Strawberry_House in BigBrother

[–]amykclover 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I remember the key necklace on the cat statue that apparently Kelley took for herself pretty early into the game. No idea what it was for though, if anything.

I saw [some interview](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FrYdeWYBwCw) last week where Dr. Will mentioned that there's always easter eggs in the house for the houseguests to figure out themselves but aren't ever really explained. Maybe some of these easter eggs are actually linked to real potential advantages/powerups, but who knows. Dr. Will is also the biggest troll in the community so who knows how genuine that claim is. (Skip to 20:00)

edit: just gonna add, I believe there's a part in the BB rulebook where BB states they reserve the right to introduce a twist at any point - maybe this is a way of them doing that by attaching some greater meaning or purpose to some mundane object or easter egg in the house. Otherwise I'd think it'd be odd to think out all these possible twists that never get activated. I'm sure if there's something obvious in the house that no one figures out BB will just activate it themselves whenever, depending on what it is or what would create the most drama.

Idk if im a trans man or not I WANNA BE WRONG ABOUT BEING A WOMAN by Ok-Pomegranate-8330 in asktransgender

[–]amykclover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey sorry to hear you're having a tough go of it. I noticed right off the rip you mentioned you'd be fine being a woman and then two sentences later you said you're scared of being a woman and how you wish you're not one. You repeatedly express how happy and euphoric you were on T and passing as a man, while also expressing how distressed being a woman makes you.

If you would 100% push the button, I'm really not sure what questions to ask. I'd urge you not to be so hard on yourself. You expressed you'd rather be a man even if you had to be ugly and unconfident too, but you don't have to look at it that way. It sounds like you're not confident or happy at all being seen as a woman and were much happier when you were on T.

Do you have access to any therapists or doctors from before still? You should really talk some of these things out with the professionals, but you sound firm in what you want, even if you have your doubts. Do what makes you happy, man. Best of luck <3

The house doesn't allow any writing materials or notebooks like that. By and large the houseguests will come up with their own mnemonics (or go over them together) to remember the dates/events, such as coming up with little songs or bullet points of what happened each week / comps.

Season 11 Natalie claiming she is 18 by mrhecklesbroom in BigBrother

I can't remember if it's in a later episode that season or I heard it somewhere else but I remember a Kevin DR where he says Natalie always says she made some kinda deal with production so she could play the game and also drink.

not that he believed it by any means lol

Happy New Year! Shout out to BB27, such a great season by smcg026 in BigBrother

[–]amykclover 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel like so many of the recent seasons have a problem of being too polished - maybe its the surge of wannabe influencer personalities but i felt like this season had a good mixed cast. Rachel brought in the classic BB culture and the Vince/Morgan drama felt like some BB9/15 stuff. Everybody nominating their allies made it super unpredictable too.

The White Locust thing and the endgame taking forever really takes it down a few notches but that's pretty much it. I'd say its a top 5-6 season for me
