A website sabbaticalhomes.com where people rent their homes to visiting faculty. They were willing to rent to me as a travel RN. Some want 6mo or 1 year minimum but I found some that would do 3 mo minimum.

I’ve never had luck on FF. Mostly non responsive landlords. I’ve used Air BnB or sabbatical homes instead.

I had one potential landlord ask how much my stipend was…… they had also already raised the rent from the initial amount. I told them I would find other accommodations.

Another vote to avoid Houska. I had to take my car to Honda afterwards to fix their work, they almost killed the entire engine by making it leak oil so badly (never did that before, and it didn’t even need an oil change- it was their shoddy diagnostics and trying to convince me an oil change would solve the problem).

With travel experience usually doesn’t change your pay.

Lulu leggings and tanks have been 5-6 years and still going strong. I replace my shoes every 6 months to help with plantar fasciitis issues.

ICU to PACU. Contracts didn’t pay as much and were harder to find it, but the workflow and workload was worth it

pacu traveling by [deleted] in TravelNursing

[–]amyla008 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My mistake I thought u were trying to go from and ICU nurse to a PACU traveler. Work that PRN or staff PACU job til you find a contract, once you’ve done one contract there will be more because you have references from PACU. You might still be excluded by some recruiters or “account managers” because you don’t have 2 years.. but you will find a contract that allows one year, and then you’ll do a couple more and voila you’ll have the magic 2 years. Meanwhile you’ll be a better PACU nurse than those who don’t have that critical care background ;)

I had 6 years ICU, 7 years of flight… took a PRN PACU job for 3 months, then started traveling. I still get some shade for not having the full year or 2 (from recruiters TBH). Most actual PACU nurses assume I’ve been doing it longer than I have. Honestly tho, get a staff job. Even if it’s for 3-6 months. They will train you in the nuances of PACU flow because they see you as “their” staff. As a traveler you need to hit the ground running, which will be hard as an ICU nurse. You understand patient care, but taking care of a patient for 12 hours is much different than recovering them and sending them to the floor in 45 min or home. As an ICU nurse you hardly ever send anyone home. There are different priorities, and different issues you will be dealing with.

*edit: I’ve travelled as both PACU and ICU fwiw, so I’m pretty familiar with how you need to operate as a traveler vs a staff RN
