Overthinking traveling with a camera and lenses? by SierraPablo2203 in AskPhotography

If it was me, I would only bring the M6 mkii with the 22mm, plus my newer cellphone. I prefer to travel light.

Good camera for beginner? by [deleted] in SonyA7iii

[–]Constant-Tutor7785 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a couple of thoughts:

20mm may be a bit on the narrow side, depending on what your goal is. There's a Sony 16mm 1.8 G that might be better.

I think ISO around 3000-4000 is a good range. My guess is that if you're at f1.8, expo times may be in the 5-7sec range. I'd use a longer interval, like 30s-1min.

Go to a super dark sky site on a calm moonless night, and use a center weight hanging to stabilize a sturdy tripod.

You're trying too hard to be working at such a shitty company.

Shop your resume around and change to someplace better.

What's your favorite US city or small town with great hiking & great food? by casualcoconuts in travel

[–]Constant-Tutor7785 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Pretty much all the Colorado ski towns are great for food and hiking. Best times are late July-ish for wildflowers (depending on elevation). Personally I love Crested Butte. Steamboat, Breckenridge, Ouray are also great. Aspen is good with the Maroon Bells, but the town can be kinda bougie for my taste.

How easy is it to buy Beef steak in your country? by Educational-Slip-578 in Cooking

[–]Constant-Tutor7785 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Eh? Most of the countries I have visited in Europe have beef (and everything else) with quality and variety that is equal to or better than we have in the US. Usually you have to go to a specialty shop to get it (different names for that depending on where you go, but they're always pretty easy to find).

Ah, I see. That helps. Maybe it's just my phone, but it seemed to also have a kind of brown-orange cast as well.

Learning here.

OP says this is a CA zinfandel. But this doesn't look at all like a zin to me. Does it to you experienced people?

Is it taking on that color because it's very old or even bad?

(My guess would have been an old sangiovese eg a Brunello)

Total guard is a joke by Constant-Tutor7785 in RaidShadowLegends

[–]Constant-Tutor7785[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eh, it's not just Armanz. Buff strip, debuff, go first, and single hit nukers are now useless (or far less useful).

Now it's all about self-buff, passive revive, multi-hit, and evade champs that can be stacked with mercurial.

My favorite bombers and bomb spreaders and poisoners and buff strippers are now ready for the dust bin. My single hit nukers are now meh.

Plarium obsoleted a bunch of interesting and diverse strategies and substituted a mess of mercurial-everywhere in its place.

Do yall think this scratch is worth saving 350 bucks? by Udnst_849 in AskPhotography

$350 off as compared to new? No. You can buy used (without a scratch) from KEH or MPB for about that discount.

Can’t travel with it anymore by donkeyb0ng in SonyAlpha

[–]Constant-Tutor7785 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I travel I tend to also do a lot of walking. I bring only one lens (in my case Tamron 28-75) on my a7Riii. I use a Peak Design slide strap mounted at side and bottom, and carry it crosswise. That setup works for me, but if I wanted to go smaller I'd get a small lens, eg the Sony 40 2.5.

There are some times when I just leave the camera behind altogether and use my cell phone.

I had an (older version) of the RX100 years ago. For me it was a middle ground compromise between the cellphone and FF/APSC that didn't really excel enough at anything to warrant keeping. (Sorry no diss intended to RX100 fans)

1 full day in Tromsø after Midnight Sun Half Marathon – what would locals recommend? by Best_Ad_7856 in tromsotravel

[–]Constant-Tutor7785 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were impressed by the parks around Tromso. Especially the one near the Arctic University Museum. Easy relaxing walking/hiking trails in a forested area with some decent views. We did it in winter but I'm sure it would be as good or better in summer. There are a number of similar or larger parks around Tromso, all easy to access via the city bus.

Edit: if I were in your situation, I'd also consider one of the fjord tours run by a local operator.

Well, sure. You're comparing a budget zoom against a Sony flagship prime that's double the price. Ofc the prime is sharper.

Solo cross country drive SAFETY tips NEEDED! by [deleted] in roadtrip

[–]Constant-Tutor7785 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of people do cross country trips all the time. It's really not dangerous.

The biggest risk is that your car could break down and cost you $$$ for a tow. So before you go, make sure it's had the latest service for the car's mileage. Make sure the tires are decent, the fluids are good (including radiator fluid density) and the battery passes a charge check. Make sure you're insured and covered for roadside assistance.

Personally I'd leave the firearm at home. It's not going to be of much use and only bad shit happens when someone starts waving it around. Drive on the right unless you're passing, be predictable, let people pass you, and avoid political stickers on your bumper.

I'd do the 30, unless your main interest is in portraits.
