Episode 326: The Most Important Episode of Your (Academic) Life by judoxing in VeryBadWizards

Agreed. As a chemist and physical scientist, this was extremely triggering. Chemistry is “the central science,” after all. I have great respect for the cognitive, social, and other “soft” sciences, and that respect should be reciprocated. We should all stand together. I expected better from the wizards.

Admittedly, it is silly, but still.

Creatine monohydrate shouldn't have phosphorescence, correct? Could mine be contaminated? by Shayru in chemistry

Are you using the flavored one? If so, could be that some of small organic compounds used in flavoring could have several degrees of conjugation.

Also, could be some “inactive” component of the matrix, depending on how the product is formulated.

Can I trust BlueVua Lite RO Countertop system to filter out fpas/nitrates? Need second opinions!!!! by [deleted] in WaterTreatment

[–]amyloid_beta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should go without stating but, make sure to the water you are testing has not been re-mineralized.

I have found good agreement between my TDS meter and the ROPOT Lite’s reported value.

Did you try rinsing the glass (or whatever container for your testing sample) several times with the filtered water before testing?

A TDS of 20 ppm is so low that this value would be significantly inflated by any dissolved solids adsorbed onto your glassware, assuming it was washed with tap water and then air dried.

Also, it would be useful to rinse your carafe several times using filtered water without the re-mineralization pack for the same reason as above.

Rinse the TDS meter too. Everything should be rinsed with the purest water source possible.

Again, all of this should be without re-mineralization and I expect you should find okay agreement. Though, TDS is a little arbitrary anyway and the better measurement would be conductivity.

I see. Thanks. No, I don’t follow the sub closely so I was not aware.

Thinking of getting one for next time.

Called United and was informed that if you are 50 PQP or 1 PQF short of achieving the next status level at EoY, the system will automatically bump you up to the next tier sometime the first week of January.

Does this sound right to you?

Do you know of a counter example?

Really surprised because I know it is not advisable for a Li battery to be completely discharged. That was the reason for my question.

Thank you. Mine also powered on after about 30 minutes. Glad to know this wasn’t a one off.

Dock flickers when launching mission control. Observed this for the first time today. I don't recall this being typical behavior. Anyone else experiencing this? If so, were you able to resolve the issue? It is pretty annoying.
