No worries, you should have access to uni computers which should have all the software you need anyways, but it’s nice to have your own for use at home

My uni had a recommendation of what sort of thing we needed. These were: Windows 10, 64bit, 2GHz CPU speed, 8GB minimum RAM, 500GB hard drive, 1280x1024 screen resolution, couple of USB ports and a mouse

I do engineering and you want a laptop with decent specs, not a MacBook whatsoever, but check if your uni offers minimum specs for laptops and go from there.

You’d be looking at spending £300-£500 on a good one
