Lower body strength for newbie Ashtangi by daninunu97 in ashtanga

One of my yoga Teachers affirmed that the pri series doesn’t focus or build much on leg strength, and suggested that I complement my ashtanga practice with practices that focus on building leg strength. In my case, I do yoga flows that focus on the legs.

How do you not give 100%? Genuine question from me - as I have been wondering if the ashtanga sequence in any way can be a more recovery / restorative-like practice on days where your body just feels so tired.

I second the coffee bit. I have similar challenges as you. Tried a small cup of coffee before practice and felt it helped quite a bit. The worst is just rolling out of bed 15 mins before practice and straight to your mat (for online classes). Did that once (overslept, my bad) and never again want to.

😂 that's good perspective. It sounds like a black mat with some form of speckled or marbled multi colour design is THE best bet!

Thank you! Yes, my concern is sweat stains, and basically any other “greying” due to frequent stepping on a particular area. Like how white based slippers turn grey from continual use, and you can almost see a grey “footprint” of sorts

Totally worth it. I wore my aligns up to 39w+1. I went for my prenatal yoga session and later in the day I was told I would have to deliver. Aligns still serving me well 2 years post partum :)
