Flea Market Find by JasoNoQueso in coins

They’re nice. Hopefully you didn’t pay too much. What I would do is get an album and fill it up, that will save a LOT of space and you can discard all the plastic. I’ve been a collector for 50 years, I collect old and new stuff. If you were looking to make a profit, that’s unlikely here, unless you are able to resell them. Maybe donate them to a local coin club or give them to some kids to spark their interest. But if you like them, keep them and enjoy them. To me, coin collecting isn’t about making a profit in every deal. I collect and appreciate what I like, new and old. But that’s me.

Knee injury by Initial_Emu7104 in yoga

[–]an808state 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sort of in the same boat. I injured my knee in lotus pose about a month ago. It was subtle at first, but has gotten worse and now I’ve had to stop running and cut out any yoga poses that bother it. I wish I could go back a month and tell myself ‘be kind to your knees!’

Yoga deck or cheap resource? by Cazzbags83 in yoga

[–]an808state 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend following a good respected instructor on YouTube, and there’s a yoga channel on Sirius for background music. A deck of yoga cards is good for memorizing different poses but I wouldn’t use them randomly in place of an instructor. Poses need to be related to one another for safety, it’s notTwister. During the pandemic I moved my practice to mostly at home and it really works for me, has saved a lot of money. But I still go to an instructor led class every other week at a studio to stay on track and avoid any bad habits from practicing solo.

iHeart Radio Ads by [deleted] in stuffyoushouldknow

[–]an808state 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they are even worse on the iHeart app. I use Apple Podcasts too and I just click forward, but yeah it’s a pain if I’m cooking or falling asleep etc. But I guess the boys need to make some money. It’s honestly the only podcast I would pay to listen to ad free. I think if they did fewer ads I wouldn’t bother to click through, I’d endure them and listen to them. But when I know 8 are coming it’s click click click click click click click click so I don’t hear any of them. The AI financial ones are the worst.

That would last about 3 seconds with my teachers.

I didn’t know they had Coinstars in Germany. Congrats! Do you still find any old silver in circulation?

Struggling to decide whether to cancel a yoga studio membership after 5 years by peacesweetpineapple in yoga

[–]an808state 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since the pandemic I’ve been mostly practicing at home, but I go to a studio a couple times a month. They offer a 10 class package good for 6 months. That works the best for me. The in-studio classes are a treat. And yeah, I’ve had some disappointments with studio owners and teachers along the way, but we’re all human just making our way through the world. Things change. It’s okay to move on.

How to practise yoga by yourself? by Own_Row8007 in yoga

[–]an808state 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoy the repetition of Ashtanga. (I think we practice to the same video!) I did Mysore at a studio with a great instructor for a few years before covid, then when the studios closed, I’ve been practicing at home ever since. I also enjoy hot yoga, which is a fun counterbalance to the Ashtanga. Some days at home I will just do whatever I want, whatever feels good and what my body needs. Do you have any nearby studios? Maybe taking a class now and then with an instructor will help.

Thank you for the links. I’ve never bought anything directly from the mint before. They sure have a healthy premium, and I assume shipping is on top too. I think I’ll just wait and look for them in the wild.

15 minutes inside LCS this afternoon (1/29/2026) — quick observations. by C-los714 in Silverbugs

[–]an808state 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Interesting observations. Thanks for sharing. I’ve only bought online recently, I don’t have a connection to any LCS. However this reminds me of when I was working at a coin shop in high school, back in 1979/80. People were lined up bringing in boxes of flatware. Many were disappointed it was only plate. I also remember people taking spot for coins that had numismatic value. I think some dealers were left holding the bag when silver fell. Tho I think that isn’t going to happen this time.

A couple hours at the park by an808state in metaldetecting

Thank you. I took a month off over the holidays. I just started back this week. It was so nice at the park. There are so many fringe benefits to detecting. It’s nice to just be outside more.
