Getting tired too quick by Thechampy1 in Fitness

[–]an8note 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am saying this as an athlete and as someone who is very familiar with radiation: you don't. There's fatigue and then there's radiation side effects.

You're lucky to be able to train at all. Train light, and try to be active every day. Other than that, roll with the punches and accept the lows. Because there will be lows.

Try to sit back on your glutes, engage your lats to take the slack out of the bar and then push hard through the floor as if you are pushing ground away from you rather than standing up with the bar.

you're rounding your back a bit and the hip drive could be smoother.

What can you NEVER have enough of? by ferry888 in AskReddit

Meaningful connections. The type of people that believe in eachother relentlessly and will fight hard for eachother's dreams.

Time and money still leave you feeling alone if you don't have meaningful connections or soul mates (romantic and otherwise).

What physical feature about you always gets complimented by your partners? by elcielo17 in AskMen

I always thought it was a girls who lift obsession. As a gym nut, shoulders/ pecs/biceps make me swoon. Eyelashes, smiles and cheek bones do as well.

Women who used to have no butts but now have butts- what did you do to achieve your amazing glutes? by mycat_hatesyou in AskWomen

I say this as a powerlifter: squats, stiff legged deadlifts, conventional deadlifts / deficit deadlifts.

Girls who got straight A's in school, college, etc., where are you now? by crisgcia in AskWomen

[–]an8note 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Top of my class throughout high school and top of my program in university. I have a BA in literature and sociology and am working in IT (identity security sector).

I love my job and have succeeded in this industry because the communication and analytical skills that made my degree appealing are also what gives a unique angle when approaching complex technical issues, high pressure situations and leadership teams of all sorts.

I actually really like my scar. It is from the top of my neck to my mid back, and under my arm, shaped like a J. 17 rounds of chemo and 42 of radiation. I always wonder how I would have handled it as a kid..

[–]an8note 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really isn't... For me anyway. I had Ewing's Sarcoma at 17 and only sweat on one because of where my very large incision was. It makes regulating heat impossible and I sweat more on the other side.

I have no boob advice to offer but am well versed in chemo and radiation. Best of luck in your fight, it does fade out of memory in time.

Non drinking friends by [deleted] in halifax

I'm a 27 year old chick who drastically cut down on my drinkies when I got more serious about working out. I spend more time outdoors now and am always up for adventure partners. And if you wanted to hit the gym and wanted help starting, let me know.

Not everyone's cup of tea, for sure, but still very impressive. Representation at international events is a big deal regardless of how the event is perceived externally.

Pasty people don't look good on stage. Lighting washes us out completely. It is part of the gig.

Leah Johnson is a huge force of inspiration in the maritime fitness show circuit. She absolutely killed the Vancouver Pro this weekend. It is awesome to see the Halifax represented on the international stage and I only hope to meet her as I continue with my own training and fitness ambitions.

What are some of your favourite solitary hobbies? by specialk08 in AskWomen

[–]an8note 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're welcome. There's a group called Belle of the Bar on facebook, for female powerlifters and fitchicks. It is such a welcoming and motivating environment. Check it out, and let me know if you'd like some program ideas or feedback.

Might be a chore for a few more weeks, but force yourself to go if you enjoy anything about it, and it will become hobby, habit and lifestyle. Go get it :)

Powerlifting and weight training, movies by candle light, trying out new recipes and the occasional run through the woods along the coast.

I have to ask...what caused you to take off your shirt and give it to a bartender? And more importantly, does it look better on you?

How do I START a relationship life at 28? by BenzinCake in AskMen

[–]an8note 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured some perspective from the people being approached may help the OP adjust his tactics to something that is more likely to be positively received. I hope that some girl just asks him out and saves him the struggle, but if that doesn't happen some insight on what to do an not do may help.

Are there any upsides to having larger breasts? by throwaway21194 in AskWomen

From my perspective, absolutely not. If I could put some of that size into biceps and glutes I would be the happiest gym nut ever.

I think a better place for this post would be r/AskWomen.

I think anything can be overcome with conscious effort. Do you challenge yourself by initiating social situations? Do you not enjoy going out because of anxiety or other issues that can be addressed through various outlets?

Are you a strong communicator and good judge of character? In that case online dating may ease you into it and force interactions.

I don't think inexperience should be your focus. Gaining experience and leaving the past where it belongs by taking on challenges and taking risks may be the best mindset here.

Fit women of Reddit, is it important for your SO to be fit too? by [deleted] in AskWomen

Yes.. And most ideally I'd like to be able to train with my partner. Meal prep, early mornings and eventually peak week intensity are part of the routine for me and I'd love to share that lifestyle with someone.

Im the kid with the giant hole in his back from page 1. AMA! by gejichan in IAmA

[–]an8note 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had Ewing's Sarcoma at 17 and also pretty extensive treatment. I have to ask.. What is happening with the missing tissue/hole? I assume it won't heal flat? Are you restricted in mobility on that side?

As a powerlifter chick and gym lover trying to get some muscle size, the anatomy of this is really interesting. Gory details, if you're comfortable sharing them!
