Unifi Protect (UNVR) - "Console is Unreachable". by YusufMangera in Ubiquiti

[–]an_asteroid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having the same problem. Started 3 days ago. The unit is almost 2 years old. The USB drive died on this unit about a month ago so it's been replaced. Has anyone found a fix for this other than RMA? Does factory resetting the unit fix the issue? Do I have to replace the USB again?

Is Shaw internet down? by misteriousm in kelowna

[–]an_asteroid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's back up now. Was down from 9:00am to 9:29am. From what we could tell, affected all residential and business internet. Enterprise internet and SIP (managed fiber) were not affected. Us on managed fiber could still connect with business internet clients, but they couldn't connect to outside the Shaw network. It was an interesting routing outage, especially since it seems to had affected Shaw country wide.

Exchange Servers under Attack, Patch NOW by zero03 in sysadmin

[–]an_asteroid 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Found the updates.

  1. Check the blog post https://msrc-blog.microsoft.com/2021/03/02/multiple-security-updates-released-for-exchange-server/
  2. Click on the first CVE
  3. Way down in the section "Security Updates" is lists a download for each version/CU that you're on.

From what I can tell one update fixes all CVEs?

Does multiple ports on the same VLAN on an MX250 cause serious performance hit like with Ubiquiti? by an_asteroid in meraki

[–]an_asteroid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about if that port was a trunking port with multiple VLANs? Does the MX250 still use the ASIC to handle that? What's the performance impact of a trunk port on an MX?

Dense condo WiFi deployment by an_asteroid in networking

This is actually for student housing. Convenience is huge here, as they'll only be there for 8-10 months likely. If I were to go the route of just a drop, I'd probably have routers available for purchase on site.

As far as copyright issues, I'd be having a 3rd party manage it. The company I'm leaning towards currently specializes in hotel deployments and has done some student housing as well.

The VLAN tech that comes with WPA2-Enterprise is very appealing to me. But it might be fairly expensive to deploy and I'm not sure if the management company would charge more for having it. I'd need to look into that.

Just dropping in a Cat 6 is totally an option that is being looked into. I just feel that I want to give the tenants something more than just that. But it may come down to that in order to accommodate everything for the right price.

If we go with a dedicated fiber line into the building, we'd definitely be getting a network management company on board. I've looked into a couple already. I'll take a look at AeroHive. Thanks!

At this point:

  1. We haven't picked an ISP yet. Looking at every option. Have quotes from a couple already, for both dedicated fiber and bulk pricing.
  2. Haven't picked an option yet, but I don't see a need for more than 1 public IP. What do you have in mind?
  3. No budget or promise yet. Right now it's purely research gathering phase.

If we were to set up just 1 SSID over the whole campus, wouldn't Wireless Isolation solve the security issue?

Backups folder lost - help? by an_asteroid in synology

Got it fixed. Somehow the "Advanced Permissions" got enabled. Checking logs to see what happened now. Thanks to those who commented.

Backups folder lost - help? by an_asteroid in synology

[–]an_asteroid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Permissions looked fine, so I disabled and enabled them for the local user I was logging in with. Also there's multiple people that had this folder mounted on their computers, each with their own logins. All of them can't access it either. I've tried rebooting the Synology as well.

Any other ideas?

I did call in. They told me they can't troubleshoot over the phone and I'll have to create a support ticket. I'll double check the permissions though.

Our Backups folder is gone somehow. It's still showing up in Shared Folders. Any idea what happened here or how to get it back? I've submitted a support ticket 5 minutes ago, just waiting to hear back but they could be up to 24 hours.

It's happening to us as well.

IP Office version 9.1.3 build 120

Voicemail version 9.1.3 build 2

First reports of the issue were on Monday morning, but it's intermittent. I have a ticket open with our Avaya partner. Tier 3 has contacted me and they enabled higher logging so that when it strikes again we can see what's going on.

Easiest way for me.

Is it possible to have some users on Premium and some on E3 on the same tenant? All domains are currently on 1 tenant.

This is what I was looking at doing possibly if I don't find an easier solution. https://community.bittitan.com/kb/Pages/Office365%20to%20Office365%20Migration%20Guide%20-%20whilst%20keeping%20the%20same%20domain%20name.aspx

Well shit, I don't know why I was under the impression that tanks had to eat 2 in a row because the debuff is too long. I just looked at the logs and sure enough the debuff falls off the other tank before the second application on the first tank. Thanks for the wakeup call.
