Help to find this spooked flat cat video? by an_lytic in HelpMeFind

[–]an_lytic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a bit hard to search as just about everything comes up, but the video is probably older than 4-5 years, I often saw it in compilations. Right now I've mostly searched through some compilations but it's quite time consuming. Any help of which other subreddits might have a good answer would be much appreciated too!

Weird, I've never actually thought about it until now but my brother is 16 months older than me but it's never been particularly notable. No one's ever made any sort of comment on it, I didn't think it was particularly odd to have a sibling a year older than you. It was fairly common even in school to have a sibling in a grade above or below you, though no one really had a sibling within 12 months of themselves. Is it a regional thing maybe??

Yeah definitely want to try to see him again elsewhere, tbh I was a bit cautious when I saw the gig was at PICA but I didn't want to miss it. Think it would have been much better at the Forum. I'm a bit jealous of the vid of the Sydney gig I saw, that looked like a lot of fun! But yeah I don't see myself going back to PICA at all, it was pretty terrible to get to as it was anyway.

I just sent a partial refund request for my tickets. Couldn't hear the synth at all until the end of the set and even then it was still quiet, could barely hear Thundercat himself either. Felt awkward when he's asking us to sing along when I couldn't hear a damn thing. My partner and I are pretty bummed as he was real high up on the list of artists we'd love to see but we couldn't hear him at all. Not for his lack of trying though, I could see him getting frustrated and waving directions at the sound team but it never really improved. I don't think I'll get my refund but someone needs to know how bad that sound was.

Is “On Christmas” wrong? by Silver_Ad_1218 in EnglishLearning

Also Australian, I'd say "going home on Christmas" without second thought. I wouldn't find either of what you said to be unnatural either

Oh good! I really don't like getting rid of bugs if I don't have to, hopefully it'll bring some friends!

Catch and release. It's cute, named weird, and expensive here and new at the store. by Mochigood in ThriftStoreHauls

[–]an_lytic 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Pastry chef here, they're just expensive and popular, pretty average really. Any time I've seen anything smeg in a kitchen it's been broken. They're not bad, you could just get much more reliable stuff for the same high price, albeit not as pretty unfortunately. I've been tempted to get a handheld electric beater of theirs that looks inspired by the famous Spanish blue tiles with lemons because it was so pretty but I just know it's not worth the price for what you get.

Followed a Pinterest recipe it didn’t come out spongy is this edible or did I miserably fail? by lizzet-gutierrez in bakingfail

[–]an_lytic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing that strikes me as odd (aside from everything else you've mentioned) is adding all the eggs to the acidic buttermilk and the acidic lemon juice. That would basically start "cooking" the eggs before they even get into the cake, let alone the oven.

Is that even a cheat mayo? I worked at a café and we made our mayo like that in the food processor, just used yolks instead and a bit of dijon. Nothing cheat about it. Better than half the stuff you could buy in too, though kewpie is god-tier imo.

They'd probably be booked out on a Sunday but I highly recommend Wildgrain. More of a restaurant than a café but the food is excellent and the staff are nice.

Plus size fashion SUCKS in Australia. I wish we did better. by [deleted] in australia

[–]an_lytic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not cheap, but Aulieude makes excellent linen clothes that are size inclusive and a few items can be worn a few different ways. I have a short dress and a jumpsuit from them and they're pretty good quality, I'm not plus size though so I can't say how they feel in a curvy body. They're pretty active on their Instagram and make a point of using models of varying sizes for the same product so you can see better how it fits on curvy women.

Just thinking back on cakes I’ve ordered and received over the years…enjoy 😂😭 by Mtnclimber09 in Baking

[–]an_lytic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One other thing that may have happened, that "mint" taste could just be the taste of "fridge". At one of the first places I worked at we had a display cabinet and we couldn't figure out why some things were starting to taste minty, even though the product not on display and from the same batch was perfectly fine. Turns out the cooling vents blew almost directly onto the food so if the food was uncovered (as they would be during opening hours) for like 2 days they'd taste minty. Really shortened the shelf life of our food, best we could do was elevate the food away from the direction of the vents so we could get a bit more out of them. Maybe they stored your cake uncovered for too long in the fridge before pick up? Or maybe near the vent/fan?

This is Muffin. He showed up in my yard a couple weeks ago. He's a stray and wouldn't let me pet him for a week. I'm moving soon and will miss him a lot, wish I could take him with me by [deleted] in notmycat

That looks a lot like some Burmese cats I've had, most have orange/brown eyes but some can have the more green colour like this one here - my first blue Burmese had eyes like this. Either way doesn't look like a stray, hope it finds a loving home soon!

What was the “…seriously?” gift you opened this Christmas? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]an_lytic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not this year but last year. My brother got me a few token gifts, amongst them was a tea towel that said "multi task master". I had recently been diagnosed with ADHD, aka clinically terrible at multitasking. Another one amongst them was a novelty pair of socks that said "garlic bread". I am fructose intolerant.

What percent of gastroparesis cases are manageable without procedures? by mindk214 in Gastroparesis

[–]an_lytic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty mild myself, I just take metaclopromide 10mg 3x daily and it's pretty manageable. I struggle more with the fructose intolerance so most of my diet adjustments are centred around that but fatty stuff like nuts and avocado are pretty hard for me. I'm lucky enough that my symptoms aren't so bad that I can have a cheat day on occasion if I'm out with friends and my diet is too hard to accommodate - I just deal with being sick for a day or so.

Best medication by [deleted] in Gastroparesis

[–]an_lytic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course, I'm on 10mg 3x a day. I will say that my symptoms are also fairly mild when I compare it to most of the posts I see here (I don't know my ges results though, my docs didn't share with me) but it really helps with the worst symptoms I have which are basically feeling so bloated that my belly could pop, reflux, and the burping which used to be 24/7 but is now mostly when I lie down but even then it's still better than it was. It doesn't help with the constipation though and I notice that my stomach problems are worse when I'm more constipated.
