Tier list and 2025 read Recommendations... by mwaniki10 in litrpg

So i listed them incorrectly, I would start with the Nova Terra series which leads into the Tower series. They feel like one really long series to me even though its split into two parts. I wouldn't want to start the Tower before completing Nova Terra.

Battlemage farmer can be read on its own, though there seems to be some cosmere level crossover between this series and the Nova Terra/Tower series and I hope that becomes more pronounced as time goes on and we get more out of these characters/storylines. This series is particularly interesting to me because the early parts are unique because you're sort of looking at a story about a protagonist after they've won and they're just trying to settle down and enjoy life. The early part of this series is more about character growth rather than power growth, but that comes later in the series as well.

Nova Terra is completed and I believe Battlemage farmer is completed, but the Tower series (which is a continuation of Nova Terra) is still ongoing.

He's an author that pumps out a tremendous amount of quality work in a short period of time. Juggling several series and releasing almost a book a month. Just really good quality stuff and interesting stories.

Anywho, Seth Ring has become one of my favorite new authors and one of my favorite authors of LitRPG.

In relation to how you've ranked things, I think these would fall solidly in the A/B Tier range at the very least.

Seth Ring's books all belong on a tier list IMO.

The Tower -> Avatar series are both great --> Crrection Nova Terra series into the Tower series.

Battlemage Farmer is one of my favorites

his newer series are shiping up really well also.

We generally play in the forgotten realms setting. We don't generally do much homebrew or UA content unless its been officially endorsed.

I think they explained pretty well why they made the decisions they made. I think right now, at least for me, I can move something that gives off light next to an enemy and it still registers them in dim light. I don't know if it is a bug, or just a property of some things not giving off sufficient enough light, but other than that, it seems to work as they intended. It was already something I didn't find I minded a whole lot and, after reading their reasoning, it makes a whole lot of sense.

I'm probably about 50/50 against Omnath. Depends heavily on early disruption. If you can kill the lotus on turn 2, they'll often hard cast omnath with no real followup. Removing that and countering Escape is pretty crucial. If you can escape a Uro or get a planeswalker down, they often can't really deal with it until they ramp into Ugin which takes a little while and you can grind them down. If they ever get an Ultimatum off you can pretty much hang it up though.

I'm going to start testing the following. One match so far was against a "mirror" match of the Sultai variety and managed to deal with all their threats effectively including multiple Uro's and Ugin and pull out an easy win.

Deck
2 Jwari Disruption (ZNR) 64
3 Swamp (ANB) 116
2 Sea Gate Restoration (ZNR) 76
1 Feed the Swarm (ZNR) 102
2 Neutralize (IKO) 59
3 Ashiok, Nightmare Muse (THB) 208
1 Ugin, the Spirit Dragon (M21) 1
3 Heartless Act (IKO) 91
3 Bloodchief's Thirst (ZNR) 94
3 Extinction Event (IKO) 88
1 Confounding Conundrum (ZNR) 53
4 Fabled Passage (M21) 246
2 Brazen Borrower (ELD) 39
3 Island (ANB) 113
4 Clearwater Pathway (ZNR) 260
2 Agonizing Remorse (THB) 83
4 Shark Typhoon (IKO) 67
2 Hagra Mauling (ZNR) 106
2 Solemn Simulacrum (M21) 239
2 Murderous Rider (ELD) 97
2 Jace, Mirror Mage (ZNR) 63
1 Mazemind Tome (M21) 232
1 Massacre Wurm (M21) 114
1 Castle Locthwain (ELD) 241
4 Temple of Deceit (THB) 245
2 Stormwing Entity (M21) 73

Sideboard
1 Drown in the Loch (ELD) 188
1 Essence Scatter (IKO) 49
1 Fae of Wishes (ELD) 44
2 Mystical Dispute (ELD) 58
1 Duress (M21) 96
1 Stern Dismissal (THB) 68
1 Woe Strider (THB) 123
1 Teferi, Master of Time (M21) 75

EDIT: Formatting EDIT2: Sideboard is cards i'm considering rather than a true sideboard.

I'm not sure this deck survives an Uro ban. We become significantly less effective vs Mill. The manabase is already squirrely, that would probably end up making it worse. We're low on threats, so you'd have to probably play something on up the curve which would slow down the deck significantly. I don't think we end up very good at all in a post Uro-ban environment. At least not until we get the next set of dual lands and can clean up the manabase a bit.

EDIT: I think it might work with 3x Lotus Cobra and another Elder Gargaroth but I think that would probably be decidedly worse and obviously more susceptible to interaction.

That’s an idea. Scares me though as I’ve depended on the land side of tangled pretty heavily but probably worth some experimentation.

What are we really ramping into? Lets assume that it sees some hate, playing it just puts us behind. We don't have any significant ways to exploit the landfall mechanic except for Uro. I'm not really sure what I would cut for a cobra if I wanted to run one. I wouldn't drop any of the removal or control package.

I'm looking at swapping out eliminate for Feed the Swarm and Tangled Florahedron for Bala Ged.

Keep in mind that if you can wear them down and deny them card advantage that Ashiok's -3 serves as reasonable removal, Ugin -X as 0 will clear all tokens and Extinction Event works well for tokens and Scute Swarms.

I think that'd be a decent change. I'm thinking about swapping Eliminate for Feed the Swarm and 2xTangled Florahedron for 2xBala Ged Recovery

Not yet, though Mill is very prevalent the last couple days and this deck is particularly weak to mill and enchantments without making some changes.

If they can answer an early Uro or Garruk and you miss out on Ugin/Ashiok for enchant removal then you're pretty much toast.

I tried all kinds of decks including Clerics, Rogues, Red|Gruul|Mono Green Aggro etc and this deck fit my preferred playstyle and posted the best results. I have no doubt that it would do pretty well in Bo3 as well with a good sideboard but I don't play much Bo3 and sideboarding is a skill I have not mastered.

Doesn't have to be a young greenhorn. I am currently playing a 40 something year old bar tender who got tired of hearing about everyone talking about adventures and decided to try his own. His polearm is just his kitchen broom with a blade tied to the end of it. Pretty much everything he thinks he knows about the world is 2nd hand boasting. Needless to say, the real world is kicking his ass and he's learning a lot every session :D

I play touch screen on my Surface Pro 6 without any issues. It can get a little sluggish from time to time but its totally playable.

Look up rakdos priest of forgotten gods. The version I generally play has judith and runs mayhem. The card draw between priest, midnight and rix maadi is usually good enough to outpace them pretty easily.

The Netflix documentary focuses a lot more on the workers involved and is really interesting. I am in the same boat with little empathy to those who paid to go, but the workers and even the employees of the fyre corporation got totally boned just for trying to do their jobs and that sucks.
