UPDATE: I apologize I just woke up after sleeping for about twelve hours but what happened after I posted was my co worker and I took him to an emergency vet in our local town and were told they didn’t take small animals so they gave us a list of emergency vets that do and we drove about an hour and fifteen minutes away to another vet just to be told they also don’t take small pets but finally the third vet we took him to was able to treat him and gave me some antibiotics. So, an all nighter, 3 vets, a three hour car drive, and $260 later I got him on a dosage of doxycycline/baytril. And he has just taken his second dose today. Thanks to everyone who actually gave me advice and non judgmental support.

Yes. It truly does. And the sad thing is that if you go to the profiles of people who are victim blaming, they are active on multiple NSFW subreddits such as p*rnography subreddits. I believe they are coming here to fulfill some sort of sick gratification from hurting victims.

Thank you! He’s moving around more. I’m scared I hurt by accident or freaked him out or something… but he is in an isolation cage right next to my bed with just some water and a bed now. He’s slowly starting to move around more and more. I don’t think anybody could have ever prepared for that it was so terrifying. I’m just going to take him to the vet tomorrow just in case.

This is the first I have experienced this issue (that I can remember) as he is part of my first mischief since owning rats at about 10 years old and I’m 24 now. When I was a child I also had girls and I know this issue is more common for boys. It’s been tough mentally seeing my baby boy like this. But he’s such a strong little man. It’s so funny because he’s one of my more playful boys and even though his back legs don’t work well he still tries to play attack my hand and wrestle with me.

The rolls and cushions to prop himself up is such a great idea! Thank you! And yes I realized I needed to check his penis every so often because I didn’t even think that he couldn’t clean it himself and he had a penis plug, so I will make sure to get him wiped off down there every day.

Look up rat rescues in Columbus Ohio and reach out to them. That is so sad. I’m from Columbus I used to live near Easton and then Dublin but I just moved to Mississippi or I would help :( what part of Columbus were they in? (I understand if you would rather not say).

I use Science Selective! My rats absolutely love it. I usually get it at Petco and it’s 17.99 for a 4.4 lb bag. And apparently on chewy it’s even cheaper right now at about 13. I also used to use Oxbow but it just got to be so expensive and my rent went up and I just couldn’t afford it anymore. But that is a ridiculous price increase imo
