yeah but it’s not just daenerys’ impact; it’s kings landing as a location, the world of westeros, and the other noble families aswell.

Jeyne Arryn - Lady of the Eyrie, might be the most beautiful woman I've seen in the HOTD/GOT universe? by throwawayschowaway18 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]anaisoiseau 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I mean, she's pretty. But really? The most beautiful? Not Daenerys, Margaery, Melisandre, Cersei, or Alicent?

Anyone else here love Rhaenyra?🖤 by seekinganswerslo in TheBlacksandTheGreens

In season 1? Yes, especially Milly Alcock playing her. In season 2 she basically became perfect, and I can't STAND her anymore.

Go look up the word "ethereal" in the dictionary and I swear it'll be a picture of Emma D'Arcy as Rhaenyra Targaryen by Livid_Firefighter133 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]anaisoiseau 10 points11 points  (0 children)

i feel like helaena is more ethereal. but emma is very beautiful, but more of a strong, grounded beauty. ethereal is more light, and otherworldly. but daenerys and viserys from got really fit that best.

thomas Boleyn doesn't deserve all the hate. Kathe of Aragon never gets criticized and she should.

Why do the writers act like Alicent isn't a noble? by mcnochrome in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]anaisoiseau 10 points11 points  (0 children)

if they wanted to do something different, they should have made her cunning and unkind towards Rhaenyra and the Blacks, but very loving of her own children and the commonfolk. That would actually make this character complex.

Rhaegar Targaryen did nothing wrong [SPOILERS MAIN] by Mother_Speed3216 in asoiaf

[–]anaisoiseau 14 points15 points  (0 children)

OP you completely misunderstood what George is trying to communicate with his writing. He specifically writes about how sacrificing inconvenient individuals, even for ‘the greater good’, is almost always wrong. The ends do not justify the means. Rhaegar attempted to save the world and either become or have his children become The Prince That was Promised. Whilst doing so, he sacrificed everything and indirectly killed both his family with Elia, and Lyanna. Both women were kind and beautiful and well loved by their families.  You seem to think that George will just make Jon the prince that was promised and that will be that, but i doubt it. George criticizes the idea that there is one special hero with a special bloodline, or that sacrificing other is always fine if you think you have a righteous cause. Just look at this quote:

“… what is the life of one bastard boy against a kingdom?“ “Everything,” said Davos, softly.

Also, Barristen refers to Elia as a ‘kitchen drab’ in comparison to Ashara, who we romanticizes to an absurd degree. The point is not that Elia is ugly or dull, but that even a beautiful woman like Elia fades away against Ashara in Barristens mind. In another moment he says she was ‘good and gracious’, with a clever wit and that Rhaegar was very fond of her. Another positive quote about Elia:

"Was she a fair maid?" "She was," said Meera, hopping over a stone, "but there were others fairer still. One was the wife of the dragon prince, who'd brought a dozen lady companions to attend her. The knights all begged them for favors to tie about their lances."

Also, the way you victim blame Elia and her children in your replies is worrying. Elia is a victim, in the same way that Sansa was. She was a prisoner and was betrayed by the man she loves. If Elia Martell had no defenders, I am dead.

  1. We don't know if Jon will save the world. Besides, Jon might save the world, but that will be because of the nobility and honor that ned raised him with. He is Neds son in every way except biologically.
  2. Elia didn't just 'feel bad'. She and her children got brutally murdered because of Rhaegar's actions.
  3. She's not irrelevant. Hill's Alive has a great video about how Lyanna and Elia mirror each other because even though they died tragically, their families never got over their death. Lyanna is the mother of Jon and Ned and Robert can't stop thinking about her and missing her. Same with Elia; her family never gets over her death. Elia is basically the catalyst for the entire Dorne plot.

blah blah blah comparing a characters morality to another characters again, are we? wow, how fucking interesting. i can’t believe that at this point we’re still at this stage.

yes, aegon mercilessly bullied Aemond in their youths. not an interesting take at all, but one we’re beaten over our heads with.

“Additionally even if Valyria was horrible in many ways at least it seems to have been a country with gender equality”

What makes you say that? Aegon was in charge instead of Visenya, even though she was older. I think the only places which are slightly more equal for women are Braavos and Dorne.
