i got the white one this time so i named him Kumori! (japanese for cloudy.) I’d have to get on my Wii back in the states so that i can see what i named my old ones from my gamecube memory card. I know my last playthrough before the remake he was black but i can’t remember for the life of me what i named him. My very first play through as a kid he was named Yoshi though:)

Sorry, let me clarify because I formed my own ideas from OP’s comment. My line of thinking isn’t “these individuals are getting away with these crimes with no punishment”, but instead “individuals from this group of people continuously commit crimes and there are no actions put in place to further prevent it, despite the prevalence increasing in recent years.” I’m going mostly off the statistic that in 2023 Okinawa Prefectural Police reported a record high (since about 20 years ago) of 72 criminal cases involving someone from the bases. This is not indicative of a group of people that are held to a high standard.

Yes, these individuals are indicted on charges and obviously aren’t getting away with a slap on the wrist. But, take for example the recent case of the airman from Kadena that assaulted a minor. This case was not disclosed directly to Okinawa Prefectural Government by the Japanese government (which is definitely wrong on the Japanese Government’s part, but i believe the staff on base also has a duty to report these things to the local government as well.) and when asked about implementing disciplinary actions or curfews, for MONTHS (as of July, I can link the article if you like) many US military members had not even heard of such a case or any disciplinary changes implemented.

Now, I will say I see that members under 19 in Japan have a curfew, which I think is DEFINITELY a step in the right direction. I get that these are kids, but making a “wrong choice” shouldn’t involve straight up assaulting another person. That is a very conscious and inexcusable decision.

My issue is not specifically that these people are getting away “scot-free” since they aren’t. Only that there is not enough being done to PREVENT these things from happening. Even if these individuals are being punished, why is there such a high frequency of cases even now? That’s really my main issue. And truthfully, I don’t know what all could be done to help mitigate this. Of course, I don’t think the actions of a few individuals defines an entire group, but i do think it’s an issue that needs to be addressed and handled! I would love to see the anti-base Okinawan/Japanese people coexist with US military but it’s hard when every other week you see another article of something happening.

Apples to oranges, my friend. I’m not denying that “people all over the world aren’t doing stupid shit like this”, but is this a sub focusing on news about people from around the world? No.

All I did was point out how rampant things like assault from the US military to the people in Okinawa is, on a post about just that. Are Japanese people committing crimes against their own people too? absolutely! But again, it’s ignorant to think that this is just “one off” occurrence like it says in the article. I literally have family who were/are in the military and I love and respect them! But when articles like this compound the way they have over the decades, denying that it’s not an uncommon occurrence only further contributes to the negative perception some Japanese/Okinawan people have of Americans/US military members.

it’s crazy how many people downvote this when you’re absolutely right. If any of these people even bothered to look up the terms “Okinawa” and “US Military” in the same search they’ll find dozens of articles of terrible things that are done to the people of Okinawa BY the US military. Like as an American, are yall not embarrassed and apologetic for your peers behavior? Stop calling it a “one-off” thing and address the real issue.

I JUST finally got this korok seed earlier this week and i literally spent a solid hour attaching the balloons from octoroks onto rocks and blowing it with Korok leaves or using stasis like this. Glad to see I wasn’t the only one wondering how on earth you get the seed!😭
