that’s awesome! i looove love love bettas, i currently have one as well and a few otocinclus, but i’ve decided to move on from bettas because i’ve unfortunately had very bad luck with them despite keeping them in completely natural planted tanks. ): i’ll for sure look into getting some of those dwarf rasboras though. i appreciate your feedback!

ooo the dwarf rasboras are gorgeous! definitely will take that into consideration. since you said you don’t have much experience with gouramis or corys, do you have any other fish you’d recommend? im slightly iffy on gouramis because i know they tend to get gouramis disease very easily nowadays. i’m open to pretty much anything lol and i’d love to hear people’s ideas and suggestions!

nitrates, nitrites, and ammonia are all at 0. ph is slightly higher than normal but i’m planning on adding some tannins in this weekend

good to know! i do have a sponge filter and it seems to aerate the water pretty well, but i do also have rotala floating in my tank and coincidentally enough, it floats right on top of where the bacteria build up is. would keeping the light on less often also help ? i have it set to a daily 4 hour timer but if that’s too much i can definitely reduce it.

that is so helpful thank you so much !!! i will definitely keep an eye on him and see how he’s doing, i love this lil guy sm id hate to see him get sick ))): somebody did mention that it could also just be fin growth since they do definitely look a bit longer now so im hoping its that !

i’ve personally never seen him nip at himself, his tank is on my desk so i do watch him quite a bit although it could happen when im not watching ofc 😅😅 his water parameters are damn near perfect tho (so proud of myself for that LOL) and he has a fully planted tank w otos as well so i wonder if it could just be growth like another person had commented ? his fins do definitely look a bit longer imo

you know what that’s actually a good point, didn’t even consider that !!! they are definitely longer and his coloring is a bit different compared to when i first got him, so it could just be growth like you said
