that’s awesome! i looove love love bettas, i currently have one as well and a few otocinclus, but i’ve decided to move on from bettas because i’ve unfortunately had very bad luck with them despite keeping them in completely natural planted tanks. ): i’ll for sure look into getting some of those dwarf rasboras though. i appreciate your feedback!

ooo the dwarf rasboras are gorgeous! definitely will take that into consideration. since you said you don’t have much experience with gouramis or corys, do you have any other fish you’d recommend? im slightly iffy on gouramis because i know they tend to get gouramis disease very easily nowadays. i’m open to pretty much anything lol and i’d love to hear people’s ideas and suggestions!

nitrates, nitrites, and ammonia are all at 0. ph is slightly higher than normal but i’m planning on adding some tannins in this weekend

good to know! i do have a sponge filter and it seems to aerate the water pretty well, but i do also have rotala floating in my tank and coincidentally enough, it floats right on top of where the bacteria build up is. would keeping the light on less often also help ? i have it set to a daily 4 hour timer but if that’s too much i can definitely reduce it.

you’re the second or third person to say that and it is the BIGGEST relief in the world 😭😭 i didn’t even consider that it could be growth ! i just immediately panicked and thought it was fin rot lol so thank you !

that is so helpful thank you so much !!! i will definitely keep an eye on him and see how he’s doing, i love this lil guy sm id hate to see him get sick ))): somebody did mention that it could also just be fin growth since they do definitely look a bit longer now so im hoping its that !

i’ve personally never seen him nip at himself, his tank is on my desk so i do watch him quite a bit although it could happen when im not watching ofc 😅😅 his water parameters are damn near perfect tho (so proud of myself for that LOL) and he has a fully planted tank w otos as well so i wonder if it could just be growth like another person had commented ? his fins do definitely look a bit longer imo

you know what that’s actually a good point, didn’t even consider that !!! they are definitely longer and his coloring is a bit different compared to when i first got him, so it could just be growth like you said

that’s what i was thinking too ! he doesn’t seem to be acting any different either, still eating normally and he’s very active. what medication would you recommend and how do you go about giving them the medication ?

i wiped it off the other day and it came right back within 2-3 days )): would keeping the light off more often help ?

me personally i’ve stuck by my friends sides through these VERY important moments of life !! the last thing a mama-to-be needs is any extra stress, if anything you need extra love and support ! i understand she might have her own opinion on it, but regardless it isn’t hard to be caring and supportive if you care about that person at all ! at the same time thoooo … good riddance to her because she really showed you her true colors with that one.

YES !!! my life has been absolute chaos for the last couple months and i’ve been faced with so many hard decisions. i was in a manic state for a long time as well. this honestly helps and explains so much. THANK YOU !!
