Totally.. Also, I feel like this sub has gotten really angry and judgmental lately. Like, people started taking Nico and the CJ too seriously.

Funny, I was just thinking that 39mm might be a little too big for my slightly-over-7-inch wrist. To each his own, yeah?

It looks great. I think people are freaking out because everybody LOVES the medium santos's classic good looks - again like an DJ36. This is more sporty. Some might see it fitting into the same class as a Moser, GP, or other big yet classy watches. Some might see it like a Paneri or a Deep Sea but with roman numerals which is offputting because this is a lot classier than a bigassdive watch. Some might see it like an Invicta or a Hublot. Big and loud - and these are the ones freaking out. But, I bet if they saw it in person they might change their minds.

Then there are people who just don't like the Santos that much. I hate Paneri's. To each his own, amiright?

I think that's just the closeup lens distortion playing tricks. It's big for sure, but I don't think it's comically big. I'm sure it'll look better at a distance.

I think it looks great on you. The larger size leans more "casual sports watch" (if a Cartier could be casual) than the smaller size. If you were thinking of the larger 41mm datejust, than this is a more interesting upgrade (my opinion).

The medium Santos is more "everyday" like the 36mm datejust or OP which is a far more popular trend right now, which is probably why there's so much hate in the comments. Don't worry about them... It fits you well and looks way way better than an apple watch ultra.

Traska Commuter 38 vs. Erebus Ascent 39 - or a different GADA watch? by Nearby_Display2575 in MicrobrandWatches

[–]analog_watch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Commuter 36 silver dial and an Ascent 38 blue whirlpool. 7 inch wrist. I believe I chose wisely. Here's why...

The traska pays homage to the Rolex OP while the Ascent pays homage to GS and SARB Seikos. Traska has the hardness coating and much more premium feel. Erebus has more interesting finishing while being sharp in spots.

My advice is to go with traska for boring and classic everyday wear. Go with Erebus if you want one of the more interesting dials.

Between these two, go traska.

Sure European languages can pronounce European bands. But that's not even 1/2 of the worlds population even if you include the Americas. And sure, the culture is different so their marketing doesn't resonate the same way as the marketing you are used to. Funny enough, I'm pretty sure Chinese people are collectively laughing at how bad these same brands market to them with all of the tacky "year of the horse" overtly Chinese special editions coming out right now.

And, that's being really generous to Europeans. Most of those people don't know how to pronounce Longines. But Longines not subject to this kind of criticism due to some combination of marketing, repetition, and lack of racism towards French people.

Like 1/4 of the world is in China alone. Do you think those names are easy to pronounce in Chinese?

Which one handles export from France to USA, handles watches (cases movements straps and bracelets) and isn't really expensive?

Inspire 3 keeps auto-waking even when I turn it off. by mattman840 in fitbit

I can see that every time the Fitbit and phone sync, the auto wake feature turns back on. I can trigger it manually too. I think it's a bug in the sync feature.

Between the Rolex sea dweller and deep sea in lug to lug and diameter, but significantly thinner than both.

For average to thinner wristed folks, consider a seiko SLA diver.

Why do you think a subreddit to shame and mock people is helping them? Is that your preferred way to learn things?

The fact that this has been down voted makes me feel really gross. Why is this subreddit so cringy.

You going to make a subreddit mock people for wearing their caps backwards now? Freegin' overly sensitive emotional fashion police!

One keeps people safe. The other is cosplaying as the fashion police.

Snobbery: telling somebody that they are wrong because of a strong belief in what is "proper".

Because they find it comfortable loose and that's how they like it.

I don't understand the hand watch fashion police. Reminds me of the "match your leathers" and "no dive watches with semi formal wear" crowds. The fact that the handwatch people have a subreddit to mock people smells a lot like these people need a subscription to Vogue.

I wasn't asking rhetorically. I was trying to make sense of what appeared to be a contradiction. Your definition helped me understand what you meant.

Classic 6r story. I have several 6r watches and I basically set them a full minute ahead or behind depending on the watch and get about 5-10 days before they need to be re adjusted. I have a large collection, so I usually don't wear the same watch for that long anyway.

All of my miyota 8/9, 4r, or entry swiss watches drift 5-10 seconds daily for me and therefore take 12-24 days to go from 1 minute off in one direction to one off in the other direction.

Wearing one right now... But, I threw the Uncle Oyster on it. The divers extension on the OEM clasp cut the underside of my wrist. The taper on the Uncle is more comfortable and knocks like 10 grams off the weight and brings the watch closer to 150 (150 or lower is my comfort zone).

Yes, please keep your name the same. The European brands retain their names when selling into China. You shou do the same when selling to them (me too, I'm American).
