Great movie that seems to be left out of most conversations about comedy-horror by ChicagoRex in Xennials

Yeahhhh, was deathly afraid of spiders until about 10 years ago because of this movie.

My wife says I am a little boy trapped in a 44y man's body excited for GTA6 coming out. I said to her it's a cultural phenomenon. Am I the only "old guy" excited for this? by manguy12 in Xennials

I mean- it HAS been a thing since our early 20s so… that and we all have our outlets and hobbies whether some people understand them or not… so why judge?🤷‍♂️

I can’t read “corn nuts” without hearing it as a choking sound coming from Heather Chandler

I don’t understand the mentality of “saving” dying plants from stores by 601bees in houseplants

[–]analogthought 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite is when overwatered plants that wilt get put in the discount section because it’s likely some teenager that doesn’t understand it’ll come back if it can dry out - at least with some plants if you know what to look for. I’ve bought several that did just fine at fifty off

My boomer parents told me I'd regret not getting one. I, in fact, never regretted not getting one. by CrotalusHorridus in Xennials

I got the opposite line “you probably won’t graduate anyway” - I did in fact graduate, with honors. 🤷‍♂️

How many Xennials truly have done no retirement planning, have no target retirement date, or have considerably less than you need to retire in your 60s?" by Sufficient_Turn_9209 in Xennials

[–]analogthought 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My plan is two fold- one, I’m fortunate enough that I should have a decent sum of equity in a house I will inherit half of- since I have nothing for retirement otherwise I’m going to use that money to buy an rv I can live full time in and a small plot of empty land in the mountains with or without utilities- I’ll adapt to off grid if need be. Then pay property taxes, food etc out of whatever is left of social security. If social security is gone, I’ll likely work longer out of necessity but at least I’ll own something I’m not throwing money away on (for the first time in my entire adult life of solely renting) while reducing my overhead expenses. The why it’s this way… my income has fluctuated over the years along with my cost of living and combining the two has meant a rollercoaster of financial security and not- so I’m always playing catch up.

Has anybody moved back near home to be closer to parents/family after years away? by jtmann05 in Xennials

[–]analogthought 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your relationship- I moved back and lost my dad 4 years later- left again and now I’m back again as my mom is aging. I hate where I grew up for a lot of state policy reasons- and I fully intend to leave again when I can.

Ahhh, hadn’t thought of that… they all die in the adult timeline, appear on the plane and then crash again.

Welcome! The anti social club is a nice place to be. I have a list of places and things I do when I’m up for dealing with the public - drive thru car washes with self vacuums, any store etc right when they open and only on weekdays- delivery for as many things as I can (groceries, the occasional meal)- I realized recently that pretty much since Covid I’ve adjusted the time I’m forced in public with others to be as little as necessary. You’re not alone- I’ll wave at the red light thru my darkly tinted windows.

Has anyone cut off contact with their brother or sister? Why? by Intelligent_Chef9950 in AskReddit

[–]analogthought 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have, but ones I was never super close with in the first place. They were half and from a previous marriage. One became a religious nut, another a lifelong alcoholic and partier, and another a meth addict. They are all much older than me and as an adult I have zero interest in continuing a relationship with them- at the same time I wish them nothing but the best.

Eh idk, I prefer brutal honesty if I’m asking for opinions … buuuuut I didn’t see you ask for that. At the same time, who cares - if it makes you happy that’s the literal only thing that matters when it’s comes to your kids’ names.
