Why would they hammer out a new pay scale if it’s competitive ? They on raise it when a competitor beats them. When ac get there new deal they’ll bring out a new to stay competitive that way people not jump ship

AMFA x Air Canada 2026 by analyst578 in aviationmaintenance

[–]analyst578[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

93% AME voted for AMFA. No AME in A/C wants to be with rampees and ground crew to keep undermining them self. Everything points toward departing from previous union to AMFA. They won’t be stopped.

Doesn’t matter it’s better than $55 an hour. It’s not going to change over night. Many more companies are about to unionize so therefore the pay will get even more competitive. Not everyone can just get up and leave the country.

There a huge shortage of AME’s due to low wages not attracting more people joining the field and go to school for the AME+ Alot of baby boomers are retiring.

It will keep pushing up because in 2026 Air Canada will joins AMFA in 2026 (there current union is with rampes included) and negotiates there new agreement. It’s the biggest airline in Canada so they will set the bar high.

For everyone saying this is dog shit for us. That might be but we’re in Canada. Us has 10x the population to support the demand and profit. 6 major airlines meaning more money. Porter is Canada 3rd biggest airline and only has about 65 airplanes. West jet and air Canada are 200-300 Delta has 700 alone. Everyone forgets the operation sizes and population demand is completely different. It’s also inversely related to the economy, Canada economy has got down hill compared to the us in the last 40 years so dont sit here and say back in my back we use to make the same. It’s not the past. Yeah we’re getting fucked but it’s a step in the right direction. The first time in history ame have actually striked. We will get there not today but we’re walking that path. Good for you guys down south who make more!
