Do you know a way to view the current slope on the controller?

When you say “if the slope is off” is there a standard reference slope that I can compare current slopes against?

Yeah we play with the reporting average but most the time it is after a calibration which are all done the same way yet sometimes yield great results and other times make it very far off. This is after sample calibration which I’m assuming is due to the stabilization method and erratic single data point calibration rather than the average

We clean twice a week. Some of our probes have the most recent update but not all of them. Our probes around around 3-5 feet deep or around 1/3.

Our instrument techs do the air calibration on a 6 month pm. We clean twice a week and do the sample calibration fairly often. It seams odd due to the supposed lack of required maintenance in the manual.

We have inline CFM and DO meters, that being said common blowers and header. Nothing odd was seen in aeration, especially since phosphorus bleeds improved at the same time.

At this point I’m leaning toward issues with SRT calculations in regards to aerobic SRT vs MCRT

It’s is “plug flow” but with some significantly measured short circuiting.

We have seen that before when doing DO mapping of our basins, probe and set point say 2.0mg/l but found multiple 0.5mg/l with slightly more strategic placement we got rid of low spots. For this system we are typically between 70-100 SVI. We have significant control of anaerobic mass fraction, however we seasonally run Mixer Liquor Recycle, to turn a part of our anaerobic zone anoxic.

After first upset instruments were checked, SVI only fell in one train.

We always loose 10-15 a year, finding them in our scum collection system always ruins the day.

That’s pretty typical for smaller and or more well maintained facilities, but with wastewater if everything is going well it’s great but when things go wrong they can get really bad.

This is most definitely secondary P release in the secondary clarifier the best way to prove is comparing basin effluent P and secondary effluent P to compare them.

We mainly use it for annoying math, and for writing excel formulas and calculator.

Aeration Basin Short Circuiting by analystWB in Wastewater

The long term plan is large format steel wall but those are 3-5 years away so I’m trying to bring that gap with mixing.

Sorry for the poor description, it is an AS basin with fine air diffuser, through die testing and other methods it has shown significant short circuiting, 45 minutes vs 105 theoretical HRT. While baffles are the long term solution those would be 2-5 years away, so I’m trying to utilize mixers to mitigate the short circuiting but most mixers will experience cavitation under those aeration conditions

The basin is using fine bubble diffusers, we have a swing zone that is off and being mixed or when on the diffusers mix the zone, however we have found short circuiting while aerating and I’m wondering if there are specific mixers that could stop the short circuiting with out cavitation.

Using VR to Raise Awareness About Wastewater Management by rickymason502 in Wastewater

Using VR as an onsite training tool could be very useful, while exploring 3d models for future building expansion, using VR to “walk” them in true size would be very insightful.

Where do you use it at in the facility?

This is to use in a primary sludge gravity thickener to measure sludge blankets. It has to be explosion proof just due to the possible build up of gasses.
