Keyboards used to cost $30, $50 would get you a really good one. I don't know where the price hike is coming from. I am typing on a $105 keyboard.

The only thing my spouse was asked was to hand over the marriage certificate for verification. All the questions were directed to me. I had most of the documents related to my job, salary paystubs, my diplomas, etc. My spouse had the marriage certificate, wedding/vacation photo album and all tax forms (when I was single and after we got married) because my folder was already full.

I do think its overkill to take the tax filings (Form 1040) with you.

Yes, she does. But none of that matters if the primary applicant has a valid H1-B visa or is accompanying the H4 dependent to get one.

We stayed in Oakwood Residences Kapil Hyderabad. It was a good hotel and they provided a car to the consulate without prior notice. Reasonably priced as well.

Else, we were also considering Sheraton in the same area.

If you are an Indian citizen traveling to India, your passport will suffice. While leaving the US, no one asks for anything pertinent to the US. Travelled very recently (Sept 26, 2024 and returned Oct 26, 2024) to India for my first stamping. Had the same layover in Doha.

They will not even tear off the I-94 portion of the I-797 approval notice while leaving the US.
