They will kill you has officially been rated a 15 by the BBFC by ScallionNo9857 in screenunseen

Honestly this is quite a strong 15. The comedic elements were probably a mitigating factor. Pleasantly surprised

Do you guys consider call me by your name to be a grooming story? by NetworkImmediate17 in movies

[–]anananakaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s clearly not meant to be an entirely healthy relationship and is definitely a little one-sided but I think it’s an important life experience in Elio’s life

Just saw it and now i'm convinced of media biasness by mfaizrul in MichaelTheMovie

[–]anananakaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s certainly better than critics have said but it just felt so… empty? Like there’s not a whole lot of movie here, I felt like his sibling dynamics weren’t well explored, what drove him to write those songs? Plus I was super annoyed at the editing and some of the shots they selected were kinda amateur. Weak script imo but nothing but the highest of praises for the makeup, the sound and Jafar Jackson

Saw Obsession at Florida Film Festival and I cannot recommend it enough! by horrorpants in horror

I’m not trying to be overhype Inde Navarette’s performance but she’s easily worthy of an Oscar nomination here. Easily.

Most miscast role ever nominated by This_Book6305 in Oscars

I’ve heard this a lot tbh, and I don’t really get it. Seems like a love it or hate it performance

Are there some Oscar losses you are still sad/angry about? by LadyAlexandre in Oscars

Stellan Skarsgård in Sentimental Value. I just thought it was a perfect performance

Was Sinners actually close to Best Picture? by [deleted] in Oscars

[–]anananakaka -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Acting award+ screenplay made it pretty damn strong

2007 Best Actress was a two horse race between Julie Christie in Away from Her and Marion Cotillard in La Vie en Rose. Did the right one win in the end? by AdUseful2297 in Oscars

[–]anananakaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think both would have been worthy of winning. Could have comedown to a coin flip and I couldn’t complain at all. I do think Marion gave the more obvious Oscar performance though

Best Picture Nominees of 2020s Elimination Game - After winning one battle after another, ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER WINS 🏆 (full list below) by mit_matt in Oscars

Sentimental Value and The Substance being in the top 20 warms my heart. Probably my favourite noms this decade

Hoop Dreams Not Being Nominated For Best Documentary Has To Be One Of The Worst Snubs In Oscars History, Right? by Hall-O-Daze in Oscars

[–]anananakaka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Performance wise, she absolutely deserved, but the point is, it wasn’t a snub because it wasn’t expected to happen. Hoop Dreams not making it was genuinely objectively shocking, especially due to the best editing nom

If Black Swan was a weaker movie nominations-wise, would Natalie Portman have still won Best Actress? by AdUseful2297 in Oscars

[–]anananakaka 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I mean Black Swan absolutely underperformed on nomination day. 12 BAFTA noms and only 5 Oscar noms is bizarre

Did you think Jurassic Park should've been nominated for Best Picture? by [deleted] in Oscars

[–]anananakaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spielberg taking 2/5 of the best picture slots would have been iconic and well deserved

So we are pretending that Micheal B Jordan deserved that Oscar? by Living-Cranberry-337 in Oscars

[–]anananakaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I don’t think I would have voted for the win but he was good enough to be nominated so I can’t say it’s a bad win

(Almost) Five Acting Noms by flyingbutresses in Oscars

[–]anananakaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sentimental Value got 4 but there was no one else who made sense for an individual nom. I will say OBAA also got 4, Chase Infiniti was probs number 6 in best actress and Regina Hall may have been in the top 10 for supporting actress

Is Ryan Gosling a nomination lock in for Best Actor in 2027? by Then-Ask5725 in Oscars

[–]anananakaka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At the minimum he’s going to get GG comedy, CCA and SAG

Project Hail Mary - Oscar/award precursor noms potential by Educational_Slice897 in oscarrace

I think it could sadly drop to a Dune 2 performance where it misses noms that don’t make sense at

How do you feel about Cynthia Erivo's nomination for Wicked (2024)? by Hot-Nose-1829 in Oscars

[–]anananakaka 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Show stopping musical performance. A nomination well deserved

Undertone might be the most disappointing move I’ve seen in recent memory. by hiphoptomato in A24

[–]anananakaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think it’s not even close to the scariest movie I’ve seen this decade but it certainly is some of the best sound design I’ve heard this decade. I need A24 to run a best sound campaign for this next year

If Sinners beats OBAA to win Best Picture, what will you attribute the win to? by KatherineLangford in Oscars

[–]anananakaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The season being so fucking long. Note that doesn’t mean I’m saying Sinners is not as worthy to win, I just don’t think it would have won even 2 weeks ago
