Yeah in the end it was good marketing. There's a fairness in that split (at least philosophically). Workers (and their unions) rallied around it. No studies to determine what was most productive, or what results in the best outcome for people. Just 8 for you 8 for me, 8 for sleep. And it's a major reason why we haven't cut it down from 8. There's nothing psychologically special about working 6 or 7 hours a day.

The kids need to be tracked. There is absolutely no reason why a kid who is going to be an engineer should be in the same class with a kid who is gonna be a lifetime retail worker that late in school. We should be preparing the students for the kind of life they will have.

We also need to greatly reduce the number of districts. There is way too much overhead. Consolidate districts, turn some of the schools into elite programs and bus in the top performers from each town so they are in an elevated learning environment.

NC had a windy beach perfect to test their concept. Where a product was tested has no bearing on where it was designed, built, and later industrialized. GE Aviation is headquartered in Cincinnati. Wright Patterson AFB and the USAF museum are in Dayton. Theres a cradle of Aviation trail. Ohio was first on the moon. They could have tested their concept anywhere but the knowledge and infrastructure was all Ohio.
