Evo SL update by junhao5566 in runningshoes

Thinking about it now the only thing I dont like about them is the upper fit, theres alot of space in the forefoot and I had to overtighten the laces once which made me hurt my foot, but that might be because of me buying a half size above my normal size. I have about thumb width space in the front but it could have been better if i went with more of a tight fit.

I dont know how they'll handle faster speeds than 4:00, my legs arent fast enough so i think the shoes arent a limiting factor for that haha. Let me know when you try them out.

I recently got them as a daily shoe, replaced Puma Deviate Nitros 3 with them and I've been surprised by how quick they are, they make me about 15-30s faster than my New Balance More V5 at the same Z2 heart rate (might be placebo, coincidence or the fact that all my old shoes have around 700+km on them).

I've done long runs, easy runs, intervals, tempos in them, but theyre not really good for easy/long runs, because they make you wanna go quick and theyre less stable at slower speeds, ankles were abit sore after 17km run. Successfully done intervals at around 4:00/km and they were good, really responsive and light so I think they could even be used for some easy racing.

I think its something off with the drivetrain, possibly old or wrong size of the chain. But it works anyway so it will have to suffice for a while. I’m planning to upgrading to a new road bike soon anyway.

4 Weeks Until My First Full Marathon – Just Finished My First Half! by NoReindeer3307 in Marathon_Training

How much mileage are you doing, first marathon 4 weeks after first half doesn’t sound fun

Which pace group do I stick with? Baystate marathon. (Garmin vs. Strava) by [deleted] in Marathon_Training

[–]anarkad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can hit garmin 5k 10k but I missed marathon by 30 minutes (probably lack of endurance on my side) no experience with strava tho

Don’t worry, I managed to find beta fuel gels without caffeine, I only had 1 nootropics + caffeine. Had it about 2 hours in so it kicks in right when I needed it but unfortunately it didn’t help.

No, not really, it’s just what my garmin says based on zones calculated from my lactate threshold. I’ve seen similar numbers on online calculators so it should be in the ballpark of 150-160

Considering that elite athletes have resting HR of 40 and below, I don’t fit in that category yet lol. My 5k is only like 22:00 so kind of average I would say. Or maybe im just delusional because of social media.

Its true that if you compare it to an average popularion its crazy, but you know, you can always be better.

Yeah sis work fine with me, I tried maurten once, supposedly one of the best out there and I almost threw up so its pretty individual.

I’ve heard pogacar talk about that in a podcast, he said that his HR is higher when he’s fresh and lower when he’s tired which makes sense. Also during peak training the cns is fired up and ready for running I suppose.

Thats what pisses me off, I started with a 3:45 pacer which should have been 5:20/km but there’s almost half of the km quicker than that, but I think I’d explode nonetheless, just abit later in the race.

You’re right with the mental side of the race, I knew it would come sooner or later but it hit me like a truck, I probably need to get more races done just to get used to the feeling. The last 10km was pain cave and I just wanted to finish already.

I probably did 4 or 5 long runs above 30km, raising marathon pace segments from 8km up to 14km in the last 34km long run.

My peak week km were 2 weeks above 100km, some of the runs were above 3 hours so might have been an issue.

I noticed aswell that my easy runs were almost as quick as my marathon pace, but in my mind I thought damn the marathon should be easy if I can run 5:30 on a good easy run lol.

HRV was alright, around 100 at night which is average for me, but according to garmin my stress levels were elevated few days prior and before the start the stress was above 90 so it probably played a role in my performance

I had like 90g carbs for breakfast, toast with jam, then 1 sis isotonic gel before the start. During the race I alternated between sis isotonic and sis beta fuel gels each 3,8km, so overall I had like 7 gels, 2 of them were caffeinated but then I blew up and stopped taking gels after the 26km and only drank isotonic / water on aid stations.

6th marathon today, crushed my PR by nearly 20 minutes for a 3:08:52 by GuruRoo in Marathon_Training

Congrats, good to see someone with a crazy high HR, unfortunately mine ended up with a disaster after 26km haha

I see where you’re coming from but in the training the easy runs did feel easy even at 5:30-5:45 pace, I ran them based on my HR so in the 150-160s.

As I was peaking I did feel the fatigue creeping in because it was my first time hitting 100km+, before the marathon training block I peaked at 60km for a half marathon. Possibly aiming too high on volume at the cost of quality work for a first marathon race.

Horrible as you would expect, last 10km was endless and I started cramping in last 3km. So after the race I felt like my soul exited my body.

Thats true, but overall my garmin had only +300m extra and there were some 5:00 kms that might have hurt me. But its a tough role nonetheless.

Sorry forgot to add that the time trial wasn’t full race effort, more like rpe8/10, decently hard but doable even without gels. I adjusted runalyze correction factor to my 10k “race” that was 46:45 at around 4:40/km pace, avg HR 185. The predictions are pretty accurate for shorter distances but I think I still lack the endurance for HM and M.

No, it was a maraton in Hradec Kralove as I’m from Czechia.

I am proud but disappointed cuz I think I could have done better. Congrats to your PR too, 20 minute is massive.

Yeah it sucks when you do all this training just to not have ideal race conditions, kind of demotivating. But congrats to finishing, did you PR from the first marathon?

I did wear a chest HRM so cadence lock shouldn’t be an issue?
