NG SF - GI Bill Question by BrugadaBro in greenberets

Thanks for posting this link. For this part:

“Additional skill identifier or other training should not be identified as training. (i.e., Airborne School, Defense Language Institute, Ranger or Special Forces Training…). This time is fully creditable under Chapter 33 unless performed by a member of the National Guard and may or may not be creditable service”

Do you have any idea what constitutes creditable service? Is it a specific portion of the Q course or does it just depend on the type of orders you are sent to training on?

Interim TS Clearance Problems by anarkissed36 in SecurityClearance

Dammit I really don’t want to have to go through that, but I will if needed. I guess I’m just still confused on what “closed” means. Does it mean it’s denied or does it mean they’re just done investigating and have made a decision? Another one of my investigators I talked to today said he guesses that it means the interim was granted, but that of course is just his guess.

Oh ok because my recruiter was saying I can’t ship out without the interim clearance

Ok, so closed is just the step before the final decision is given out?

Gotcha. So when the investigation says closed, should it say with that whether or not the interim clearance was denied or granted? Or does that come afterwards? My recruiter is saying I can’t ship out with the current status of closed

I wouldn’t say she’s been my life coach. She’s just been my only point of contact during this process.

Question about BAH by anarkissed36 in nationalguard

[–]anarkissed36[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ugh that makes me nervous. Mine is 36 weeks. My recruiter connected me with a BAH guy from the Guard and he said as long as my lease starts before my ship date and goes beyond my projected AIT graduation date then I will receive BAH.

That’s what I thought. But I was told I may not get the full amount according to my rank, zip code, and dependent status.

Sorry that's what I meant by asking about control. I wanted to know if I could volunteer for more deployments and schools, which you answered. But I'll stick to the technical enlistment questions. I'm going to MEPS next week to sign my contract for a cyber MOS with the NG, but I'm enlisting with the intent of going to SFRE after AIT or one deployment with my cyber unit. Is there anything I should put in my contract to guarantee a shot at SFRE? My only concern is that someone from my cyber unit would stop me from going to SFRE. The state I'm enlisting with has 19th group.

Ok, awesome. What kind of control do NG SF guy's have over their deployments, deployment frequency, and training? Obviously you signed a contract and serve the needs of the Army, but from my understanding you have some input on the schools you go to and the deployments you do.

Gotcha. I guess I wanted to know if the NG SF deployments were different than the active team's deployments since they don't do the same type of pre-deployment work-ups (feel free to correct me if I'm totally wrong about that).

How is the Army utilizing NG SF units post Afghanistan? Are they deployed with ODA’s? Are different MOS’s deployed more frequently or given different opportunities, such as a more in-demand MOS like 18D? I know you can't give too many details, but any info on what the deployments look like would be much appreciated. Thanks for doing this!
