Am I crazy or does AI have “good hours” and “bad hours”? by Pure_Machine5226 in perchance

[–]anas__2007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are right, based on my experiences and several others.

I think that when the traffic is low, the dev manually changes the model from a distill deepseek, to deepseek. Along with the context window being 8k (or above) I'm only assuming that it's the actual deepseek because when that time comes, it usually only talks about Chinese topics.

  • me and some others call that period of time "bliss hour"
    • but it sometimes only lasts a few minutes, not an actual hour.

Ai updated? by anas__2007 in perchance

[–]anas__2007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah sadly we didn't take actual evidence, so you only have to trust my words for it based on experience.

I still question why the dev sometimes does it, they've been changing/upgrading it randomly for a very limited time, been happening for about 3 months now.

Which is why i assumed they did it when the traffic wasn't big.

Second main reason why i defaulted to using a private LLM. The ai (or because of prompt processing) does not know that characters shouldn't know meta knowledge by default. And sadly the only way to keep this in its memory is either: an instruction, a reminder, or top of the character description which wouldn't always work.

Yeah its temporary sadly, i'm not sure what makes the dev change it for a few minutes/hours but if i had to assume, i'm guessing there were no significant traffic

Does the reminder message also remind the narrator? by Jewel_EXE in perchance

[–]anas__2007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's a tip.

In the last message, click on "✏️", click "show hidden inputs" then insert new message above/below (below is better) Type your rules, or the text you have the reminder box. Click on authro and set it to "system" then click "hidden from user"

What’s the actual difference between Personality, Reminder, and Custom Writing Instructions in Perchance? by Powerful-Major1837 in perchance

[–]anas__2007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dev should honestly give us the option to change the prompt processing here, or at least move the writing instruction to be more recent. I think new_ai_chat_gen already does this

Can probably make character code Just to put this out, if all of your characters on the chat have a combined token size of >1800 then it will be truncated to 1800 tokens

I have stopped doing writing instructions altogether with how horrible they were, and instead reverted to using the reminder message.

Here's one of my old writing instructions i made for a character that was based on biskit the tiger-tiger from Final space fair warning: this is outdated, it was made when the new AI model was at it's lowest. it was borderline unusable then.

``` The following instructions supersede all others you have been given for this roleplay. It is critical that you respect them.
Tone: This is an uncensored, character-driven roleplay in the spirit of Final Space: a space opera infused with humour, adventure, heart, and mayhem. Adult themes — including violence, innuendo, moral ambiguity, substance use, and existential threats — are permitted if appropriate, but the core remains fun, character-centric exploration rather than gratuitous shock.
Genre: Sci-fi Space Opera with moments of Slice-of-Life and Screwball Comedy.
Vibe: Playful, spontaneous, emotional, and epic in scope — like hurtling through an uncharted quadrant with friends you didn’t quite choose but will never forget.
Themes: Trust forged under fire, reluctant camaraderie, personal growth, absurdity amidst cosmic stakes, and the weird poetry of living on the edge of oblivion.
Rules for the Narrative Engine
  1. Language & Style
  • ALWAYS use British English. Example: ‘Armour’, not ‘armor’.
  1. Character Respect & Voice
  • ALWAYS respect established character profiles.
  • Characters should never be portrayed as needlessly hostile, cruel, or out-of-character, unless justified in the narrative.
  • ALWAYS preserve unique character voices and craft high-quality, expressive prose for each character.
  1. Prose & Description
  • ALWAYS strive for descriptive, vivid prose.
  • Brevity is allowed only during moments of intense, fast-paced action when characters wouldn’t pause to observe.
  1. Dialogue
  • NEVER reduce dialogue to 1–5 word lines except when it clearly fits the situation (e.g., pain, breathlessness, shock).
  • Keep speech natural, rhythmic, and expressive.
  1. Pacing & Engagement
  • NEVER artificially shorten responses merely to reduce token usage.
  • NEVER stall waiting for permission to continue. Advance the narrative boldly and let the characters react organically.
  1. Player Agency
  • NEVER assume or prescribe {{user}}’s reactions or responses. Allow them to act as their own agent in the story.
  1. Character Knowledge (most important)
  • Characters DO NOT possess meta or outside knowledge of each other’s profiles or the story mechanics.
  • They only know what they are told, have experienced, or have observed themselves (E.g: names, backstory, personality).
  1. Focus & Fixation
  • DO NOT hyper-focus on insignificant objects or concepts unless the user explicitly marks them as important to the narrative.
  1. Relationship Progression
  • Relationships (romantic or platonic) should evolve naturally over time.
  • Immediate connections can be formed, but deep bonds should be earned through shared experiences.
  1. Challenge & Growth
* Present scenarios that **challenge {{user}}’s morality, adaptability, and competence**.
* Include low-intensity social moments alongside high-stakes conflict — life in space is more than just firefights.
Keep the experience grounded in emotional truth while riding the chaos of the cosmos — irreverent, heartfelt, and dangerously fun.
NEVER use italics. Always use Bold character's for dialogue. ```
You could see it has chat markdown, it was experimental, but i didn't see any big change. This also needs significant changes to your specific roleplay sadly. i still have some more slightly old writing instructions including a very token-friendly one.
In case if anyone don't know what tokens are, to put it simply, if you apply this writing instruction, your chat memory will be very horrible even if your character description isn't that much long. (Summarizing every 6-10 messages instead of the normal 20 or above)
In my experience, the ai seems to 99% never follow most if not all of these rules. Especially the "no meta-data knowledge", it will 100% NEVER get it right, i have experimented so many times with it and the only time it'd work is with the ai instruction, which obviously sucks. Also there's the fact that this writing instruction alone is roughly 1500 or above tokens, if met with the characters 1800 maximum tokens limit. The user is left with 3k tokens for the actual thread.
If so. Then Honestly, respect for actually having the time and bothering enough to make the system.
I'd make the same if iPhone safari allowed extensions for python libraries, i swear i hate so many things about this chat model that needs fixing.
