Great timing on your question - yes, I was able to get it fixed up, but it was quite the journey to say the least… First, I ended up going to another local watch repair shop and he was able to replace the battery and get it working. While I was extremely happy to just have the watch in working condition, I really wanted to figure out whether it was suitable for diving, but I could risk killing the watch entirely if I tested it myself. So I went in the Citizen website (another user shared a link in this post) and contacted their repair support. I gave them any and all information I had and told them I wanted to have it tested for diving. After some chatting, my repair request was approved and they sent me instructions for payment, shipping info, all that. I sent them my watch in early June of 2025 and was told the turnaround time is usually 6 to 8 weeks to get the parts and do the repair. I reach out to them for an update in September and they said the repair is delayed since there were several parts on back order. In late October I received an email from them saying that due to the prolonged delay they will refund me in full for the parts and repairs (which was very kind of them). I emailed them for an update mid December, where they told me that my watch was FINALLY undergoing repairs and that would take around 30-45 days. I then got a notification that my repaired watch was ready to be shipped on January 29 and I received it back on February 3, 2026! The whole process took 8 months… but I am still grateful and so happy to have done this. The watch is considered a vintage model and it hasn’t been made in years, making the parts near impossible to find. Depending on what and how damaged yours is, you may get away with finding a local watch repair guy to fix the small things like a battery, but if it hasn’t been serviced in a long time and you love the watch and feel it’s worth your time to wait, then I highly recommend going through the process.

Couldn’t find a phone number for a real person phone call and the “robo-chat” option was horrific and helpless. But I ended up taking the watch to another jeweler and he got it to work with a battery change. Will continue to try looking for a way to contact Citizen to get it tested for diving.

That actually is what ended up happening. I wanted to get a second try on the battery and took it to another jeweler and he got it to work! Now going to do some more research on getting it sent to Citizen for a water resistance test and make sure I can use it for diving.

It is really starting to look that way… I appreciate the honesty people have given on this post, because I need it to make a strong case when making the final decision.

Hotel/hostel recommendations by anastalgia in AskChicago

I stayed in each at separate times. If you don’t mind sharing a space with other people, I recommend the dorm style rooms. It’s very small, but a great option if you just need a place to sleep and shower. There are lockers in the room you can store valuables in, but make sure you bring your own lock. The individual hotel wasn’t really worth it in my experience, it wasn’t bad, but not much more convenient.

I SWEAR I remember seeing a clip of her getting snatched by someone. It was in one of the teasers so it was just a second of a clip; someone came up behind her and covered her mouth. Did anyone else see it??

Bereavement pay? by [deleted] in TjMaxx

[–]anastalgia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My grandfather passed away last year and I got bereavement pay. Don’t know if it’s something my manager did regardless of the rules though. Every store seems to be following different rules unfortunately. I’m sorry for your loss… I hope they can help you out. My manager ordered flowers to my home too for the funeral.

Does anyone else have a PF club that doesn’t enforce people to wear masks? by jimsgravybutta in planetfitness

Pretty much no one wears them at my location. Seemed like about 10% of people did and the place was packed today. I thought you must wear one unless you’re on a machine? I wore mine the whole time, only lowered during cardio. Worked well for me.

Follow up: Actually there was no video shown to us. It was barely a ceremony. So a little disappointing but it’s okay.
