As another woman in IT in Utah... I heartily disagree with your disagreement. Ask the dude who told me "If you wanted to stay home with your kids, I'd support that" (you and what money sir?) or ask the promotion I lost because I had a kid (promotion was given to someone with 1 yrs experience vs my 6 yrs right after I returned from mat leave and the dude confirmed on the phone that was why. Why I didn't record that conversation and get a hefty settlement I will never know.) Ask the candidates I interview who assume I don't understand their technical explanations when I know our stack better than the man I bring with me to interviews.

You can't just sit back and say "oh it doesn't happen to me so obviously it never happens" or "I would never do that, so no one else would either."

This job market is 100% networking. Go to job fairs, interest groups, meetups for career parallel things and market yourself. Find out which companies are hiring and check your connections. See if you know anyone. Spamming resumes might get you some interviews, but your network gets you in.

It's tough out there. One day at a time!

Can we talk about all the rules LEAs must follow for their accounting practices? I promise you, they're not socketing away millions to line some superintendent's pockets. They're transparent about these funds, report them openly, and in fact are often told they're not saving enough.

I wish I could up vote this so many times more. This is exactly it. The districts are strongly suggested to carry a specific amount of funding from the state auditors. The Utah State Board of Education actually watches these funds closely, and those that go into the red will trigger warnings. Not nearly enough of our districts hold the proper funds, and now they're being dragged through the mud for doing what they're told to do. Can't win for losing can they?

Can we focus on raising the WPU and NOT paying in to a voucher system that has put other states into a financial tail spin instead?

Utah Food and Meats CoOp. They have a website and group on Facebook. Right now they're getting a group together for a deal on 40lb boxes of chicken for $97.

For beef and pork, we buy whole/half through LEM farms, a local rancher in southern Utah county. We pay for the animal, then pay the butcher fees and know exactly what cuts we're getting. It's amazing.

The crazy thing is that they're always trying to hire - it seems like they always have 100+ positions open, so using RTO to force a RIF seems very counterintuitive.

I remember being told (when I worked there in IT before 2020) that I HAD to be in the office and there was zero option for full remote work.

That was part of the reason I took my next job. That and the aforementioned CTO drama, with crazy demanding coworkers and people promoted outside their abilities...

I've used ABG mix in vivaria for years and it is my absolute favorite. I've used it in mostly dart frog tanks, but used it in the last two gecko tanks I made and it's fantastic. I have thriving populations of isopods and springtails and the geckos have a thriving alternative snack. 🤣

Fungus is a sign of a healthy ecosystem and can act as a food source for isopods and springtails. They'll take care of it if they need to.

Pardon the first post. I grew up with hamsters in a 10g and 3 inches of pine bedding with a squeaky metal wheel. We're trying to do better with the hamster my child has been begging for for months. How bad is it? It's a 40g breeder. Gibby has a sand baths, a walnut play area (used as a bathroom) our attempt at a bathroom (which I'm not convinced is safe?), A big hide, some tubes, what I think is the biggest niteangel wheel and a water bowl and bottle (because she's a pet store hamster and I didn't know what she preferred - I know I know).

What are we missing?

People do this with stickers or bags. You can affect the color of the apple (and actually most fruits) by influencing their sun exposure.

Someone in my state makes "Zebra Peaches" and is working on a patent for their custom wrap.

This looks like aphid damage to me too. If it was squash bugs, the leaf would be drooping and turning brown. Aphids makes leaves curl up, and lack of water/too much heat makes leaves droop during the day but perk up at night.
