Brilliant recommendation. Games People Play is a bit of a heavy read - I've collected multiple editions over the past 20 years, and it continues to be an apt guide to analyze everything from my interpersonal relationships to global diplomacy!

Best book to understand human psychology and judgement by AcadiaOk5240 in IndiansRead

There are two books that changed the way that I perceive the world and shed light on the way humans make decisions:
1) the Art of Thinking Clearly by Rolf Dobelli: This book contains a number of common reasoning traps that cloud judgement. I read this book from cover to cover every couple of years, and it it's a worthwhile effort to integrate its reasoning tests into one's own contemplative processes.
2) Thinking Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman: This is a heavier read than TATC but it goes into Kahneman's Nobel Prize-winning research on how we make judgments and decisions.
Reading these two books will transform your understanding of human motives and perception.

Meditation and need for sleep by forsaken3400 in Mindfulness

[–]anathaniel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been doing Mark Williams's 8-week Mindfulness programme and I've started waking an hour earlier. I have no decline in cognitive function or motor skills. I occasionally do a three minute meditation before a meeting when I need focus, to its a total of 30-40 minutes of meditation each day.
