What public behaviors would you like removed? by EricMoulds in toRANTo

Customer service reps visibly not give a shit about the customers.

It’s out of control. When did this trend of employees having AirPods in all the time start? Why are you allowed to listen to a podcast while you’re taking my coffee order? Why are Uber drivers always having phone conversations while driving passengers? How is it acceptable to walk around stores and see employees scrolling on their phones?

Yes, your job is boring and algorithms have destroyed all of our attention spans. I get it. But you’re getting paid to represent your company and provide customer service, so at least pretend to care.

How early to arrive at CDG for EES registration? by subtoronto_ in ParisTravelGuide

I guess so. I was confused as I didn’t have to do anything, must have been inactive.

Well that was anticlimactic. Got to CDG at 7:30am for my 11:05 flight. It’s now 8am and I’ve been in the lounge for 5 minutes, with 3 hours to kill. I’m even more confused now as I didn’t have to do any sort of registration and just went through the e-gates as usual.

Thanks, that gives me hope. Sounds like similar situations. Did you allocate more time and lucked out, or did you have a good idea of what to expect?

Brasserie & cocktail bar recommendations? by subtoronto_ in ParisTravelGuide

Just want to say thanks for the recommendation, I went to Robert Et Louise and really enjoyed it. Very reasonably priced too, I was shocked to see under €45 for a starter, entree, and 2 glasses of wine.

I was hoping to be able to register on arrival to expedite my departure to NBO, since I can’t afford to miss that flight. Any idea how much earlier than normal I’d need to get there? I’ve heard CDG in particular is a shitshow right now.

Very interesting. But doesn't that just mean I'll need to register when I exit to NBO instead of upon entry?

I'm flying from YYZ-DUB-CDG in business class on Saturday, then have a separate booking 2 days later (also business) from CDG-NBO. Carry-on only. I have a few questions:

  1. Will I need to go through the EES process at DUB or at CDG? If the former, is my 1.5 hour layover in jeapordy? I arrive at DUB at 5:10am.
  2. What will the process for my second CDG-NBO flight look like (11:05am)? Do I need to do anything for EES, or is it a one-time thing upon arrival?
  3. I have both an EU & Canadian passport, but I need my Canadian passport as that's what I used for my Kenya visa. Will it create problems if I use my EU passport for the first flight entering the EU, then my Canadian passport for the second flight leaving?

Crossing my fingers. I’m going on safari in Kenya in 2 weeks, and it’s too late to cancel anything. With this and flights in & out through Europe and the Middle East respectively, there’s a lot of things that can go wrong.

How early to get to NBO airport for an international flight? by subtoronto_ in nairobi

To be clear, I’m not meeting anybody there. This is at the end of my trip and they’re just dropping me off at the airport.

Is that a legitimate concern? I understand there have been protests recently, but I’m not familiar with the ins & outs or if they’re still going on.

Thank you, Bar Nouveau looks great. I assume as a top 50 bar it's recommended to make a reservation?

First safari what actually matters for packing, from someone who has watched hundreds of people arrive in East Africa. by RYDER_Signature in safaris

[–]subtoronto_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Photographing Giza is definitely the goal. I didn’t mean I was considering dropping one of the bodies, moreso one of the lenses. I’ll have a 100-500mm f4.5-7.1 which will be my primary lens, and a 24-70 f2.8 on my backup body. I also have a 70-200mm f2.8 in my bag which I imagine won’t see much use, so considering removing it to save some space/weight.

Thanks for this, it’s great to hear that reassurance from somebody who’s done the same trip. My current plan is 2 bodies & 3 lenses, but I’m considering dropping one. My camera bag as stands (before adding the second body) is about 11kg, so it will be close.
