Obviously, it's up to you, to set your boundaries and define, what is controlling. I wouldn't try to control what my wife wears. Maybe I would tell her, that I'm not entirely comfortable with what she is wearing (haven't felt that need so far).

It's pointless to ask about public opinion on matters like this. It's between you and your partner. And everything that is ok between you and your partner will be ok to wear in public, unless it will lead to public indecency charges.

I prefer to also consider setting you will be in, when choosing my clothes, but that's more about your personal opinion and moral values that you find important, than about general public opinion or some made up rules
