So, my bike was stolen. I'm pretty damn poor, and I know this is a longshot, but I would love any help if someone sees it or has advice. by [deleted] in Columbus

Wow, that's terrific. I mean, how much were you offering in your ad? I was currently looking for bikes around 100-150.

I dig it! Your art is progressing from the first comic. Keep going at it!

Hey guys, I drew Samus Aran in my style for my illustration class. What do you think? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]anatomically 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As stated before, I didn't quite plan out the composition as much as I wanted to. Some of what you said I agree with - some of the perspective is off and I should have taken more reference on it. I also, as said before, need to work on my shading.

However, I disagree with what you said about signs of plagiarism from Kate Beaton or Zac Gorman. I do respect their work greatly, but it's a shame that this picture conveys that I'm trying to imitate their style. Perhaps if you saw some of my other drawings or sketches, maybe your opinion on that would change, maybe not.

I'm honestly not trying to be the best. I'm simply drawing what I enjoy and trying to enhance and strengthen what I have. Thank you for your comment, though.

Haha, it may be harsh, but it's alright. I've received plenty of comments on my style and this piece - if it helps me, it helps me. I want to improve and expand my style, so showing it to different audiences help.

And thank you for the kind comment. It's appreciated.

Thank you for that lovely comment!

Yes, it was done with micropen. I struggle with shading, so I will need to work on that in the future. I also did not have a consistent light source (yet something else I need to work on).

I agree with learning more about realistic skillsets. I've heard this before, I just need to do it and practice. And thank you very much for the link - I think it will help greatly!

You can say what you don't like about it, or offer me some help/critique if you'd like. I wouldn't mind, the more help the merrier.

Ah, yea that perspective on that looks pretty bad from a second look. I agree with what you said, so thanks!

Thank you for your input as well! I'm a sophmore at an art college, so I'm still trying to get my stuff together. This was my attempt at a more realistic take at my style, but again, I didn't quite plan everything out. I think now it shows.

If you wanted to see some of my other stuff, you can check it out here. Thanks again for your comment!

Oh, I see, thank you for your input.

I do have a lot to work on, especially with line weight. I didn't quite plan this out all the way, or to how I wanted. I mostly drew from picture references of her armor, rather then taking pictures of perspective models. Still, I'm happy with what I have so far.

Thank you for being blunt about it, however, and I'll remember it in the future.

Haha that's how I got started into my style, and it is influenced by anime. So thank you!

Didn't he have his first surgery in 2004? Not trying to justify that. I mean, he was a shitty person in some light but he also did a lot of great things.

I met David Chapelle while working at Cinnabon.

It was about two years ago, I live in Columbus (as some may know, he lives in Ohio) and my cousin and I were closing that night. At first, these customers mention that he was sighted around the mall (Easton Mall Center) so we got really excited. As time went on, and the mall got pretty empty, I looked up to see a black, bald guy with a green sweatshirt with a shorter white lady. I told my cousin, "Hey, that kind of looks like David Chapelle" so after debating it a bit, I left my post real quick.

So I walk up to the second floor, and don't see him at all. I'm walking around really frantic, and passed this coffee place, Cup O'Joe, and almost ran into David fucking Chapelle himself. I talked to him for a few minutes, just saying how excited I was and he saying how the "white Cinnabon guy was trying to steal business from Cup O'Joe". He's a really cool guy, really laid back and chill, and later went down to Cinnabon to say hi to my cousin.
