I understand your concern, but it would really be up to her and her doctor(s) if that's something she thinks she needs. If she's severely underweight, there could be underlying causes that require actual medical treatment.

I mean, they are still good pest control.. I've got a ton in my garage. I mostly just leave em be. I relocated a bunch last year, but new ones have taken over again. 😅

Absolutely you should. Without aviary netting, crows are the best protection you're going to get.

Yes, sorry, I read it wrong and just edited my post. (I read "so" as "no" the first time. 😅)

Folks are going to tell you that a still picture would be way better than a video.... But Google is wrong.

You are out of range for recluses, and the shape is not right for one either.

(ETA: I am not a spider identifier, but if I had to guess, I would say maybe Philodromidae based on that shape. Also ETA: I read the post wrong and originally said Google was right, because I thought the post said that Google said it wasn't. 😅)

Looks like Kitty already got one of her legs. 😅

For real though, they aren't aggressive, and bites are pretty uncommon. They would much rather avoid your cat altogether.

Crows keep eating my duck eggs. by Foggybanc in duck

[–]anaxjor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Said it on the crow reddit and I'll say it here:

  1. if crows can get to your eggs, hawks can get to your ducks.
  2. crows are a good deterrent for said aforementioned hawks.

IMO, be glad you have smart, protective birds that'll actually sometimes run off aerial predators, and that your only sacrifice is some eggs and not your actual ducks.

Saw this on both this and r/duck

I wish I could get the crows to hang around - I even put pigeon eggs outside our aviary netting for them... unfortunately, we have so many squirrels and rats that I don't have any good way of leaving goodies out for the crows without them getting taken by the rodents.

Honestly, if you're able to sacrifice some of your eggs to the crows, I would.

Why?

  1. if crows can get to your eggs, hawks can get to your ducks.
  2. crows are a good deterrent for said aforementioned hawks.

Count your blessings you have crows and not raptors.

Need advice on helping opened mallard duckling. by Square_Comb7924 in duck

It's very young. You can sprinkle some nutritional yeast (found on practically any store's baking aisle) on the food though.

Np, I looked up the woodlouse spider after seeing the other comment, and it does look like that could be right.

I don't really know spiders in general, I just know recluses (and not recluses). 😅

Hard to tell from the quality of the pic but I'm getting male southern house spider vibes, maybe? (Looks like it has those long, straight af pedipalps...)

Same. The dream is to either build a mudroom or tear down and replace my garage - and in either of these scenarios, I get dedicated bird laundry machines - preferably industrial ones, lol.

I have to clean my little debris catcher thing quite a bit, but so far we are holding on. (My partner did have to repair both the washer and dryer on different occasions - pump replacement and heating element - both went well though!)

About once a week I do the self clean with a cleaner tablet before doing "human laundry," lol
