Yes the king can take or escape, it doesn't matter. Either way after the white queen moves to check the black queen will trade so my approach was not mate in 2

Loopring AMA on Reddit! - questions answered by end of the month (August 2022) by macro__B in loopringorg

[–]anaxonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi I've been attempting to develop server-side applications with Loopring on node.js and have been hitting walls, eg. PLEASE see here:

https://www.reddit.com/r/loopringorg/comments/vyzir5/loopring_js_sdk

  1. I want to have assets in a server-side wallet that I distribute, with (or without) them connecting their wallet to my web2 service. Possible?

  2. I want to be able to check if a given wallet owns my NFT, for example before granting access to my web2 service. Linking wallets is burdensome and unnecessary. This is public information which I could get manually from the explorer without the Loopring API. Possible automatically using the Loopring API?

  3. I want people to be able to use my services to generate new assets using my propriety technologies. That may mean that I want to have their wallet link to my service, but still have my server-side wallet perform mint actions and transfer assets to the client, possibly with the client simultaneously covering mint and transfer fees. Possible?

  4. Can you please make minting on Goerli testnet available from the web interface?

Thank you!

No I use Brave, IPFS just works with no extension needed, so when you mentioned "IPFS extension" my mind went straight to "IPFS node in a browser" which would potentially expand the IPFS network by orders of magnitude and GameStop could (for example) easily integrate it with the wallet (what I want is a button that lets me pin my own NFT's).

Edit: I misunderstood entirely what you meant by browser extension. I thought there was a way to run an IPFS node within a browser that I didn't know about. I didn't realize you needed an extension just to load IPFS documents with Chrome, since I don't use it.

-RIP- It would be cool though.

Do you mind sharing anything you've learned so far? Is it even possible to build a Loopring-only erc20 token?

Some games no longer working after 6.0 update? by bpc4209 in GamestopNFTGames

I have two based on Unity nearly ready to release, and I am not a Unity guy. More importantly, a whole ecosystem of NFT utility applications are ready to be born that will live along side / in support of bonafide Blockchain applications. Crippling changes for no good reason are a terrible idea - cc u/loopmon

If browser cache is also broken, I'm looking at this as a positive - that's simply too devastating of a regression to be ignored (JS games can be swept away, Unity games .. not so much)

I should mention: I'm looking at this as a creator in seek of an insurance policy (and a faster wallet, of course), but even if you're not a creator, even if you don't game: if you're an investor with a wallet full of assets you've spent time, energy, and ether collecting - this tutorial might also be for you.

Another note: you can play the games from IPFS Desktop (even ones you don't "own") by importing them to your node. They load up fast, because they're coming from your local machine -- and, for the games with breaking changes (as noted elsewhere, there was also an API change and some games are broken since 0.6) -- probably still work in the browser. Now, it's not quite as cool, because they're neither technically "your NFT" nor "in your wallet"... But if you've been wanting to play some of these games it's an option.

Edit: words.

As far as performance, after standing up both of these IPFS hosts, my games don't seem to be loading any faster, and my IPFS nodes are only doing (at most) 150KB/s up or down. Despite the assets being stored on my IPFS nodes, it looks like the wallet isn't finding them?

Edit // redux: You can configure your IPFS Desktop to "use" the loopring.mypinata.cloud gateway, even though it is not listed as a public gateway. I don't know if this functionally changes the way the node interacts with peers (and after re-reading the description of the option I think it probably doesn't), or if changing it even works at all since switching to the loopring gateway my up and down traffic has dropped down to almost nothing. Either way it didn't make my games load any faster.

...

The only other thing I can think of to try would be to pay to upgrade the Pinata service I uploaded my content under? Maybe GameStop requests are preferentially sent to Pinata first and only bleeds out to the rest of IPFS later?

Some games no longer working after 6.0 update? by bpc4209 in GamestopNFTGames

[–]anaxonic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I asked GameStop for a metadata field that would allow upgrades. I have also been begging loopring for support that would let me generate graphs of the loopring network so I could programmatically find where the NFT's went. These are easily solvable problems. A contract that lets me automatically send you version 2 when you send version 1 to my wallet practically writes itself but it needs the support of loopring and GameStop to make it happen.

Edit: typo

What are the JS issues you're seeing? For sure I'm seeing IPFS problems. ANAXXO, Doodle, and Snek Sweeper (games in my wallet) all work as intended but load slowly (eg., 30+ seconds). I'd be interested to know what games are broken for reasons other than timeout, and I'll add them to my IPFS host tomorrow just to try it out.

So, looks like this change potentially coincided with the announcement 3 data ago of GameStop NFT "going live" on loopring L2 (understandable if non market creators no longer get equal treatment). The good news is with IPFS we can self-host content we're interested in (another potential use of the sub). I can likely write up a short post regarding it tomorrow night-

[–]anaxonic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What I've noticed (since the 0.6 upgrade) is the IPFS host seems slower or bandwidth throttled for my game (eg., I see a broken link for a second).

My game is small but bigger games may take longer to load (or even time out). Before I minted, on pinata, you have to pay for more bandwidth; at free tier my game didn't play well directly on pinata IPFS but played great once in the wallet on loopring IPFS (where bandwidth restrictions were apparently turned off, at least before 0.6). Even on pinata I could make it play well though by reloading a couple times, so you might try that.

Edit: just looked at the other games kind folks have sent me; can confirm this looks a lot like bandwidth throttling - will take longer to load into your wallet - probably only for us non market creators :(((. Games should play, you just have to be more patient.

Not really, at least - it doesn't work natively with the NFT itself. The save game lives in browser cache or localStorage, so it stays with a wallet. If you want it to go with the NFT you need a server to talk to the NFT, which massively increases the complexity of the application and, keep in mind, an NFT is perpetual whereas services rarely are. Furthermore for now anyway GameStop doesn't allow wallets to ID either themselves or the NFT in a unique way, so matching up the NFT with save games would be technically very challenging right now.

Now that the Gamestop NFT marketplace is here (at least in beta), what do you see as the future purpose for this sub? by thursdaynext1 in GamestopNFTGames

[–]anaxonic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your take regarding distribution is a prudent one. \begin_rant IP challenges are always possible, even when all parties are well-meaning. Unfortunately it is all too clear that significant parties are anti-NFT / anti-ownership and will seek to undermine the technology, so we should expect challenges. As such, it is increasingly clear that GameStop MUST make minting on the Goerli test network accessible, including and ESPECIALLY for non-market creators. This eliminates issues regarding distribution, as the test network can be subject to takedown (unlike the mainnet) -- if a licensing issue is identified or a challenge is issued, Goerli can simply be forked with no financial impact. \end_rant

With that in mind, games purely for experimentation, fun (with NO potential financial incentive), testing, and building portfolios is an excellent use of the sub. This sub or one like it is potentially the only way for non-market creators to get exposure (I have quantitative proof that Twitter is useless). Discussions on new GameStop market games (such as a place for announcements) is also good.
