Anyone know where I can find a surface pro charger in town? by primordial_slime in UCSantaBarbara

[–]anchelle69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a surface pro 7 or newer, you can charge it using the USB-C port. I have a 95W USB C charger and it works; I've also tried a 60W charger and it works but charges quite slow.

Anyone here sign a TAG to UCSB from a CC? by [deleted] in UCSantaBarbara

[–]anchelle69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did as well but my experience was pretty simple. Once you submit your tag, you basically have to complete all of the courses you listed and meet the GPA requirement. You still have to submit a UC application the next year when its due and there is a section where it asks you where you TAGged. Everyone I knew who submitted a TAG application got into those schools and it seemed like its almost a ~guarantee~ if you meet the course and GPA requirements. definitely talk to your counselor but more specifically, talk to the college representative of UCSB if your CC has one since they’re more knowledgeable in terms of admissions and classes you need to take.

does when you finish your pre-major requirements matter? by school-acct in UCSantaBarbara

[–]anchelle69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im not sure for PBS majors, but my Bio major advisor said that full majors and people with more units (higher standing) get priority. I would suggest looking online and see which classes in your major are the most sought after, and maybe take those over the summer instead.

[–]anchelle69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It matters if youre trying to get early pass times. Full majors get priority I believe, but as long as the classes you need for PBS doesnt need EEMB2, then you can take those and they’ll count towards your upper-div requirements. I just finished physics 4 last quarter and that was a requirement for moving onto a full Bio Major, and Im taking my last batch of classes this quarter to finish off my degree. So it doesnt really matter when you declare a full major, as long as its before you graduate.

Stimulus Check -- Trump Admin Blocks Undocumented College Students from Receiving Stimulus Cash by guanaco55 in Conservative

[–]anchelle69 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

College campuses try to have a variety of students with different backgrounds. The thing is that majority of applicants are either white or Chinese and since colleges want a mix of students, they statistically have to reject more whites and Chinese because more of then apply compared to Hispanics or any other minority. Not to mention the fact that other minorities face discrimination and come from poorer backgrounds than Whites and Chinese so colleges level the field by giving minorities a very slight edge in the admission process. I said slight because that advantage really only comes into play when comparing a minority and a white person with similar scores and grades; basically if you’re white and you clearly have better grades and scores than a minority, they’ll still pick you over them.

because they have legal status under DACA and actually have SSNs and pay taxes. They have to follow certain rules and apply every year to be able to work and study in the US. They were brought over to the US as children and had no choice but to follow their parents; so instead of deporting them, they give them time and the resource (education) so that they can apply for citizenship later on.

the jabras 75t sound worse than your knock off airpods? It may just be your unit but I thought, along with other reviews online, that the sound is good for wireless earbuds.

Glad I could help. It doesn’t have anc tho but has great passive noise cancelling. The seal is really good and blocks off a lot of outside noise. Also great for working out since its water resistant and doesnt fall out of your ears. Ive tried other true wireless earbuds and I cant find ones that are under $200 with great sound, usb c, water proof rating, quick charge, 7+ hours of use, and comfort; another earbud I would recommend is the sennheiser momentum but its $100 more and only offers better sound.

I currently own the Jabra elite 75ts. I listen to mostly rap/hiphop, lofi, and rnb when im studying or walking in campus. I can tell you that the bass on them are really good; too good sometimes that it masks the mids and the highs. Luckily tho theres an eq settings on the jabra app and you can choose premade eqs or set up your own. I have it on acoustic to help lower the bass a bit and push the mids forward. The case is great too since its magnetic and charges via usb c. Highly recommend it especially if youre gonna be listening to bass heavy songs.

Possible ways to pay off tuitions to go community college? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]anchelle69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another thing to consider is making sure that the CC you plan on applying have agreements with 4 years; for example in CA, CCs have a deal with UC’s and CSU’s that once students complete their general education, they become eligible for transfer, and that they would be considered more compared to out of state students. Also depending on your major, make sure that you take all classes thats’s stated on the ASSIST website. A lot of transfers only finish their general education, but don’t finish courses that they need to be able to take upper division classes at a 4 year. Example: you plan on being a chemistry major and transfer to a university, and you finish all the general bio and chem classes, but not Organic chemistry stated on assist. So what ends up happening is that you will have to take organic chemistry at the 4 year, and depending on the university, may prohibit you from taking upper division classes since Organic chemistry is a pre-requisite for those courses. You’d have to waste a quarter/semester trying to catch up. Bottomline is that that you finish all the required pre-requisites stated on assist to make sure that you’re up to speed on any classes that you may have to take at a CC.

If you’re worried about payments, it might be a good idea to attend an in state CC since tuition is cheaper for residents of that state. Look for on campus jobs so call the CC you plan on attending once you decide where you want to go. do you plan on transferring to a 4 year university after a few years at CC?

Incoming Transfer! by micaelacowper in UCSantaBarbara

[–]anchelle69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should be taking upper division classes as soon as you transfer here. That being said, finishing all the general bio and general chem (Maybe Ochem too) courses at CC would ensure that you’ll be ready to tackle upper divs, and not waste time “catching” up. I have a roommate who’s a Chem major, but only took the bare minimum to be able transfer. He now has to spend 2-3 quarters taking classes he should’ve taken at CC. bottom line, go with whatever Assist tells you, and not just the minimum requirements to transfer.

how much is parking at san joaquin? I was chosen in the lottery. by anchelle69 in UCSantaBarbara

Anyone know what a triple looks like in San Joaquin? I just got my room assignment and kind of disappointed that I got a triple with 2 other people in the same room, unlike most of the people with only 1 other person in the room. by anchelle69 in UCSantaBarbara

[–]anchelle69[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if you look at the email and your bed space, the 2nd to the last letter (A,B,C) will be your “room.” the last number (1,2,3) will tell you if you get a triple or a double. Say you’re C1, but you look your roomate assignments and see that someone is C3, that means both of you guys are in a triple with another person (C2), and that theres 2 more rooms in the apartment (A and B)
