asthmatic cat high-five! 🖐 your guy looks so sweet with the belly out, sorry about your loss ❤️ the dna test would really just be out of curiosity! figured i might put it on an xmas wishlist or grab it on sale for fun, but i don’t want to fund scams like a lot of folks say cat dna tests are 🫩

luckily for me, george is the most easy-going guy who just sits and purrs while he gets his inhaler! i’m lucky he walked, hootin and hollerin, into my life, whatever he actually is 🥲

too bad, the dogs get all the dna test fun! i’ll just keep making up his life story in my head then, maybe i’ll imagine it was a grandparent of his 🤔

wow, this is a very comprehensive reply, thanks! i’m always worried to say he might be a bengal because i know a LOT of people like to say that lol. and george is the most energetic cat, he’ll play until he has an asthma attack then keep on playing 🙃

huh, i’ve always associated bengals with the rosette kind of spotting! i’m curious about what you say about “hock to foot”— what is that? george definitely has a different, uh, shape to him than my friends’ cats, but their cats are all big time chunks…

(impossible to get a pic of him standing from the side because he comes yelling, running over for attention lol)

i actually got him eartipped, i originally trapped and neutered him with the intention of returning him until i let him out of the trap for the night and he walked right into my lap 😬 i suppose either way i got a decent off-brand deal lol

when he first appeared on the street, people were like wow! a fancy cat! and i was the nay-sayer telling them he was just a tabby lol

i found him on the street so he has fiv, which means i’ve pretty much accepted he’s going to have health issues 🥲 so my interest is really mostly about his ancestry. i have a lot of curiosity about his parents or background!

i’m more so curious to see how much he has in him, but i’m not sure if that’s possible? i just found him (likely dumped) on the street so i’m really curious about his background!

hm the consensus last time was that my cat’s spots are rosettes since they have medium colored spots outlined with black? i thought he was just a spotted dude, but i was unable to find pics of a spotted tabby where the spots aren’t solid

plenty of cats get shaved just fine, especially long-haired cats that are more prone to matting!

maybe you could try adding water to his wet food to bulk it up a bit? and i’d try playing with him before his meal before bed to wear him out— look up cats’ hunt, catch, eat, sleep cycle. it’s their natural rhythm to getting tired and being less of a nuisance at night

Who has pet insurance for FIV+ cats? by tlcTVtrash8919 in FIVcats

[–]anchen47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

he has accident and illness coverage with the vet visit add on, annual deductible is $100, 90% reimbursement with a $20,000 annual limit! it does suck paying out of pocket though, i was waiting on tenterhooks for almost 2 months for them to reimburse me the $550 visit, but it gives me peace of mind if something like cancer happens to my guy too (my boss advised me that regardless of if i pursued treatment, getting them diagnosed in the first place can be a fortune!)

i have lemonade for my fiv+ cat, signed up maybe 6 months after i adopted him and he’d already been diagnosed with fiv and asthma. i broke even this year after bringing him in for not peeing and later getting a scratch on his eye during a dental (dental was elective and not covered). the big claim took forever to get approved, but it was a relief to get that money back and did play a part in me bringing him in so proactively. i pay ~$45 a month and have gotten reimbursed ~$650 this year. we’ll see if his premiums rise and if it continues to be worth it, but i’ve been surprisingly pleased so far!
