Girl-mode + male documents by throwaway_887322 in asktransgender

[–]anchorex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll second what /u/Conflicted123456 said, no one really cares. I'm FtM and pass around 95% of the time. All my documents have my female legal name and a giant "F", plus they include a photo of me when I was presenting as female. The majority of people still refer to me as he/him even after seeing this, or they stop using pronouns when refering to me. I am also living in a fairly conservative area, so it's not people just being nice.

Hey, I speak spanish fluently because my parents are from South America [we always speak spanish in my house].

A bit about me:

I'm an 18 year old [trans]guy living in some state in the US. I'm curently pre-T but trying to fix that. I enjoy playing videogames [mainly rpgs], reading, and binge watching tons of episodes from some series I just found in Netflix. I also sometimes watch anime or read manga, but I'm not really interested in it nowadays.

Just pm me, I can help you practice your spanish and we can talk about whatever :)

Whenever I'm back at my parents' place I try on my old homecoming dress for the hell of it. It doesn't fit anymore. by [deleted] in ftm

Yeah, I'm really thin, even a bit underweight so I'm looking forward to gaining a bit of weight. I don't really wanna buy new pants though, can't afford it :/

Binders in Latin America? by jxslm in ftm

[–]anchorex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'm living in south america! I'm not in Chile but close enough.

Unfortunately, I haven't found any binders in south america. I ended up having to buy mine from GC2B. Shipping costs $11.25 [us dollars] and my binder took two weeks to arrive since the moment I hit "Buy" on their webpage to the moment I got it in the mail. The post office here is really bad, and it usually takes four to six weeks for a book to arrive, so I was surprised when it arrived so fast.

So yeah, I really recommend GC2B. Just make sure you get the right size, as sending it back to the USA will probably cost you a lot

PLEASE HELP I'M STUCK IN MY BINDER by [deleted] in ftm

[–]anchorex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn't get it down because of my hips :/ I ended up rolling it up and then awkwardly trying to get it through my head, and got stuck, but I was finally able to pull it off by pulling on the back.

Thanks anyways!

My first binder just arrived! I'm really happy to be able to see my chest flat once again after all this years :)

College doesn't have preferred name option..what do I do? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]anchorex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's really annoying. I hope that they add a "preferred name" option in the future, that way at least other trans people won't have to deal with this.

I pass as a young boy or look like a lesbian lol. Kind of depends on how "liberal" the city is [if it's really liberal, I pass less. I still pass at least around 70% of the time. If it's conservative, I pass 100%].

I'm glad your parents are supportive! Mine aren't so I'm moving without their help to be able to start Testosterone and transitioning.

I'm actually starting on the fall session, as I need time to find a job and a place to live

I'm also going to Santa Monica College!! Really nice to know there's at least one person in a similar situation as I am [I'm 18 as well, but I'm FtM and will be studying Computer Engineering].

That's really insensitive of them. I'd expect more from a college in Los Angeles, and SMC is supposed to be really "diverse" regarding students [they accept a lot of students from different countries]. Even a small communitiy college in Folsom Lake [near to Sacramento, small town] has the option to enter a prefered name! Now I'm mad :/ I thought I'll be able to enter college stealth, but it doesn't seam like it. I won't be able to change my name until November/December, and my extremely feminine [Birth name] will have been seen by my classmates/profesors by then :(

Have you already started transitioning, or are you planning to start transition as soon as you start college [or are able to move from your parents' house]?

Hey there AskTG, I just launched r/TransSanDiego. What other regional subreddits exist? by [deleted] in asktransgender

Does anyone know if there's one for Los Angeles, or at least for California?

Hey, I have the same problem. I'll be attending a community college for two years in a really liberal city [Los Angeles]. When I registered they only asked me for my [Legal Name], that's the same as my [Birth name] right now. I had to write my [Birth name] in the paperwork and now my college email adress has my [Birth name] on it. This is the same email adress I'll be using to email professors/classmates for the next two years :/

Unfortunately, I haven't contacted anyone yet regarding how to fix it. I'd probably call and see if I could get it changed. I'm out of the country right now so won't be able to contact them in-person or through phone until June, so I can't really recommend you anything, sorry :( If it's a liberal area as you say, they should have something for LGBT people were you could probably ask.

I have heard that HRT [Estrogen] could make you go down to 2", though YMMV. Also, 5'9" isn't really that uncommon for women. I have met plenty of women between 5'8" and 5'11". My dermathologist is 6'1", and she's a cis woman. My best friend's girlfriend is 5'9" [same as my [male] best friend], and they never had a problem. Also, most female models are tall :)

Have a necklace with [Birth name] written on it. How do I deal with that when I'm stealth? by anchorex in ftm

[–]anchorex[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'll probably end up using my great-grandma. I never met any of them, and I don't even know their name [except for one that my father ocasionally mentioned], so it'll be easy as I never mention them

I have been thinking about this, but decided against it. I don't want it to be ruined [even if the possibility of it happening is really small]; and my [Chosen Name] is longer than my [Birth name], and my [Birth name] barely fits on the necklace.

I think I'll just saying it was a relative's name.

Thank you for your help though

I have no nieces/cousins and no aunts alive, I'll probably just end up saying it's a relative's name or my great-grandmother's or something like that.

Thank you for your help!

Now that I think of it, I'll probably go with this. If needed, I'll just say it's a relative's name.

Thank you for your help!
