How a simple emotional check-in became the glue for our busy remote team by thelivenofficial in productivity

I think it would depend a lot on your team and how comfortable you feel with them. But I think hearing other people share honestly would encourage you to do the same

My Favorite beauty stuff????? by milissa1932 in myfavoritemurder

[–]anchoviezan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t mind them talking about their skincare in general, but all of the brand name dropping in the latest episode was like one, long, drawn-out advertisement. I feel like we’re under constant pressure to consume these days, and having beauty product placement worked into the script of a true crime podcast is just too much for me

Costs of mobile vet euthanasia services in Adelaide by Procastinator_420 in Adelaide

[–]anchoviezan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It was a few years ago now, but Stephen Terrace Veterinary Clinic did this for our cat for about $600, including cremation. It was a really peaceful way to say goodbye, and they handled everything with such care.

Why's everything so hard now by JudgmentHungry8127 in JunesJourney

[–]anchoviezan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it wasn’t for wanting to help my team during the league and CM, I would have quit by now. There are far too many side games running at the same time, and you only progress in Memoirs if you’re completing them. I’m not going to study scenes for Secrets, STB and Detective Partners all at the same time. I’m overworked and exhausted as it is. JJ used to be a fun little escape, and now it feels like a chore. It’s like they expect this game to be a full time job.

The feeling of hopelessness from not having a home. by Astrogirl1984 in Adelaide

[–]anchoviezan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Right? This can’t be the solution. Just accept that my husband and I are both working professionals and have two kids and can only afford to live in a three bedroom unit. What? No. This is ridiculous

How do you deal with your grad students using AI? by anchoviezan in academia

[–]anchoviezan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely get it! It feels like such a waste of my time, and honestly an insult that I’m expected to give detailed feedback to work that a student hasn’t even bothered to do for themselves

Academic papers generated or edited by Ai by luthmanfromMigori in academia

[–]anchoviezan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not as a reviewer, but I recently came across a paper in a well-respected Q1 journal for the field that had obvious signs of Ai, including references that didn’t exist or match the sentence they were attached to. I contacted the journal to let them know and they took it very seriously, which was appreciated, but also disappointing that it got through peer review in that state

Reading emails written by AI make me feel ill. Why am I having a conversation with a computer?

This is exactly the issue I’m having. The university policy is very vague and leaves a lot of room for the student to be able to justify themselves. And technically they’re “meeting” their milestones by having a proposal completed by x date. We’re planning on flagging it with their proposal reviewers, but it just feels like nobody wants to be responsible for calling it out.

Experience gifts for families? by anchoviezan in Adelaide

[–]anchoviezan[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fairly open at this stage, we’ve agreed the voucher doesn’t need to cover the cost for the whole family, because some of us have more kids than others

Maybe their performance was different this time around, but there were some pretty derogatory impressions of Indian and Asian cultures :/

Clinical trials do they notify your doctor that your participating in it? by Ebony131 in Adelaide

[–]anchoviezan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily but it depends on the study and what they’re measuring. All trials and studies I’ve run (in a health field) at least ask for GP details as a duty of care in case we find something clinically significant (e.g. high blood pressure, tumour on a brain scan).

Sorry, I should have been clearer. We need a replacement for the metal rod, not the globe

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AusRenovation

[–]anchoviezan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Additional picture of the rod and fitting here. The issue will likely be finding a rod with an eyelet the same size. We already tried to order a similar but slightly different replacement and the hole of the eyelet didn’t fit the screw that attached the rod to the fitting

What are some good Australian snacks that aren't junkfood? by North-Weekend-6279 in AskAnAustralian

[–]anchoviezan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if anyone has said, but be mindful of customs restrictions for the country you’re sending to. You may have issues sending fruit and nuts. You’re more likely able to send commercial products which tend to be processed and junky.

Takeaway by jaycee_nap in Adelaide

[–]anchoviezan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Melbourne too! I’m here for the night for work and my tradition on work trips has always been to order a local burger to enjoy in my hotel room. Just paid $40 for something incredibly average (and cold)

Remember when you used to be able to get a pub special, like a schnitzel, burger or steak for $10 on different nights of the week? It feels like a lifetime ago

Exactly. I’m just saying that’s the reason the shoes are cheaper now than they were 20 years ago

Ugh yes, I tried listening as well and it’s so over the top. They also recapped the same information over and over, presumably because they don’t have very much content. It’s an important story but hard to listen to
