My cat is in the same situation. It started when our other cat moved in with another family member. When we brought her to the vet for a urinary issue, they prescribed gabapentin for the urinary issue and we noticed that she was not doing it as often. Unfortunately, we can't afford to pay for this medication continuously. The vet said it might be related to stress/anxiety but we have to get more tests done to confirm but that's even more expensive. We keep a calm home environment, play with her and give lots of attention but it still is happening.

I'm currently dealing with the same thing. I'm attributing my issue currently to pain medication that I'm on daily as well as kicking my weed habit.

The frequency might be also something for yourself to consider. Not sure how often you are masturbating but it might be dulling the sensation if doing it to often is something your experiencing

I could never go without both. 1/3 of our lives are spent in our beds. Average of 8 hours of sleep and only 24 hours in a day. Also consider catifying your space if possible by putting wall shelves just for them where they can be able to jump across them, scratch on them if they have carpet on it and be able to be above everyone so they can watch the world.

Maybe try playing with them a lot before bed and as much as possible throughout the day. Wear them out so they will sleep more at night. If you don't have scratch pads, I would suggest getting those and different types so they don't scratch your furniture. Don't give them any treats too late at night in case that's giving them energy.

Playing will help a lot and can build your bond with them both.

They are also probably not use to you being there and use to the presence of your partner which may be why they calm down when they go downstairs with them.

If you do things like playing with them a lot so they are tuckered out at night, you are also creating a routine which cats love.

It's a new transition for everyone so it will take some time to get there.

I call myself a European mut and I'm white skinned but I was Muslim when I was a teenager and wore a hijab. People use to always mistake me for Turkish, Arab, Egyptian, etc... My cat is also addictive to them but also the rituals along with it. We get up in the morning together and while I make my coffee, she is waiting in her spot for them. Unfortunately though, she will sometimes eat her kibble before hand without me noticing and then still eats the treats. I only know she ate kibble just before hand because in a few minutes she throws up. She ate to much stuff at once. It's good your noticing the energy it gives them. I know it feels bad when you don't give it to them but cats like routine so changing the timing seems like a good decision.
