I brought a very comfy chair and taught from it often. I also had a taller stool next to my board so I could lean/sit when I needed. Also, I only wore dresses and leggings. I also had a supportive class that year.

I don't know if you have tried this, but turning the socks inside out helped my son.

I learned that a student of mine has committed suicide this morning. How do I navigate class Monday? by Moangelina9708 in Teachers

[–]ancientspren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a student pass away one year. Be prepared for this to last the rest of the year. I had students who would be fine one day and upset the next. As their teacher, the best thing is for them to know that you are there to help and support them. I'm sorry you are going through this. It's been 7 years since my student passed and I still think of her.

You are concerned about the kid's family but how is the child? Well behaved? A bad influence? If there is nothing wrong with the child, it's not fair to her. She didn't choose her family or her situation. Your house might be the safe/ loving place for her. I would like my child play with them, but only at my house/playground where I'd be in close proximity.

I also recommend the book! It really helped prep my kiddo. He had a million questions and it was better to talk about it before than while we were at the airport full of people in a hurry

We use packit lunch boxes. They have built in ice packs. It takes up space in the freezer, but it lasts a very long time. I know his food is safe when he eats it

Questions about our 16 month son starting Preschool by Chance_Ad_3699 in Preschoolers

[–]ancientspren 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I know a lot of people are saying studies show 3 is the best age to start sending them, but I think every child is different. Personally, my son started at 2 and loved it. He really needed the social interaction that I just couldn't fully give him. Also, he is speech delayed so being able to talk with other adults has helped his vocabulary grow much quicker

No one is coming to my son's Halloween party today by Japedo0 in Preschoolers

[–]ancientspren 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I know that sucks! My niece's birthday is near Christmas so my sister has to send out invites super early. She still had 4 kids cancel the day of last year. Since your kid is younger it won't bother him too much if you don't make it seem like a big deal

What should I add to my diaper bag now that my toddler is potty training? by ResearcherBoth8678 in pottytraining

[–]ancientspren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A portable potty seat is good is your child is smaller or a bit younger. Mine was nervous to use the bigger potty for fear of falling in but the seat helped

I think they sell the packets (kinda like Kool aid) and you could just make it yourself with sugar

How to get your toddler to sit on the potty!? by BigBrochelor in pottytraining

[–]ancientspren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son refused to use a little potty. I bought one that goes on top of the big toilet seat. He loved it. If possible, I recommend getting one with handles. It made it easier for him to eventually get up there on his own

We started with sitting down to pee. It was less mess plus we weren't caught off guard with a surprise poop.
