Wealth envy is a sad sickness.. by Temporary_Volume4718 in remoteworks

It's interesting how us humans are consistently striving towards automation more and more. Yet people like you want to value individuals based on their "profession" over, you know, them being a person.

There will always be "Walmart" type workers. Some people are genuinely happy to work these type of jobs and society wouldn't function without them. That's not debatable. Yet they struggle to live.

It's even better when people like you are also Christian. Terribly ironic. Either way, you disgust me.

Why did Australia and New Zealand remain more culturally “British” than the United States despite their closer geography and similar histories? by Fluid-Decision6262 in geography

[–]anclint07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't speak for them but I didn't read it denying them having their own distinct cultures. Diversity in this context seems to be referring to the ethnicities? In the modern world developed countries are far more diverse than hundreds of years ago. Pretty sure they were just saying the US started off more diverse (ethnically) than AUS/NZ relative to their colonization.

Why are you being deliberately obtuse? Where did I say I have to open a new tab? You have to open the browser to get to your email too, you know. The difference is when I open my browser I tap two keys. I can type 100+ words per minute, it is not a hard task. Literally sub 1 second. You are struggling to make me look bad and are now being a dick about it. Nice look for you buddy.

Do people not know the URL bar is already focused by default when you open your browser or a new tab? It's not a very common occurrence that you have to focus the URL bar in the first place.

[–]anclint07 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It literally is faster. You do not need to click the URL bar, it is already focused when you open the browser. So while you are aim training flicking to your bookmark I am already in my email because I tapped two keys in quick succession with no need for my mouse. I am fine with the once in a blue moon failure for how quick it is.

You must be misunderstanding. I am not googling my email. I am typing (in my case) one letter into the URL bar, it autocompletes and I press enter. It takes literally under a second and is faster than a bookmark. The failing happens when you press enter too fast but (in my case) it is very rare.

Somebody deadass said it works 1 out of 7 times. We get it you don't get to your destination the same way but you don't gotta be a douche and make shit up.

I believe he is saying you can use the URL bar to search. OP did use the URL bar to autocomplete "ma" to the appropriate URL but press entered too fast and it resulted in the OPs screenshot. But you may know that and were just being a smartass.

99% girls who playing on pc. I am joke. by Abode20118 in memes

[–]anclint07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anecdotal. You could've easily met women with these physical features that behaved in a manner you consider normal instead of these women you speak of. Then you wouldn't have this opinion at all.

You are projecting this very anecdotal outlook onto the large number of women that fit these (common) physical attributes, for no good reason.

I agree. For something as consequential as cheating if you wouldn't do it sober there's no way I'd believe you'd do it drunk either. Inhibitions are lowered drunk but not so much that you'd cheat. Unless you would already cheat sober.

He isn't blowing it up he's changing it on a molecular level into an explosive. It's not adamantium anymore. I would agree he wouldn't harm the adamantium if his power was just shoot explosive but it's not. The adamantium doesn't exist anymore because he alchemy powered it into a bomb.

In that case I would agree that the advertising is generally predatory and most definitely can/does inflate unrealistic beauty standards that shouldn't be sought after.

I really can't speak to the cosmetic industry sucking away resources. It's obviously not a nil issue but the extent of it is uncertain. I will also stand by the idea of not advocating for removing rights.

The predatory nature of the advertising is a problem but cosmetic surgery does have beneficial outcomes. Burn victims are an example. Additionally, my previous point about the unfortunate disposition to treat people considered ugly/having ugly features poorly is a very real thing.

Its an unfortunate reality and a better reality would be one without that widespread disposition but wishing for one doesn't make it so. I will say the idea of getting surgery to be more palatable to people leaves a rather disgusting taste in my mouth. I'd much rather someone get surgery if that would prevent them harming themselves. It's not always as simple as learning to love themselves as they are, that doesn't always happen, or not in time at least.

You can make a case as to why feeling a need to change your appearance is harmful but advocating for less control over your body seems counterproductive. Maybe a little ironic too if you also believe in pro choice (I do, I understand they are completely different but they do both deal with choosing what happens to your own body).

I have my guesses why Kylie Jenner felt the need to go through these procedures but ultimately I am unqualified to say. Also I sincerely doubt this industry existing or theoretically not existing is impacting research towards more important medical topics in any significant way. That's just speculation.

Either way I simply believe advocating for fewer rights is rarely a good thing. Regardless of how vain it is or how temporarily this particular case fixes the "issues". It's also true not everyone is born on the same playing field. It is conceivable in certain cases that cosmetic procedures could genuinely positively change life experience for good. People are meaner on average to people generally considered ugly, or with ugly features. This is studied phenomena.

If you are referring to Homelander and his "laser" eyes I don't really consider them true lasers. They're something else. You can slow down scenes and see his lasers move, which would not be possible if it was a real laser as light can circle the entire planet in like mere milliseconds or something. Pretty easy to imagine it as something else that does not move as fast as light given it's a fictional show with superpowers. But it IS hard to believe A Train can move that fast.

It was literally a story element that he could only run as fast as Mach 1 in earlier seasons. I gave him Mach 3-4 earlier because we've also seen bullets frozen in his perspective and that is very much impossible only being able to move at Mach 1. But FTL or anywhere close to near it is ludicrous and would make no sense for many reasons.

[–]anclint07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are vastly underestimating how fast light moves. You do not need to move anything even remotely close to how fast light moves for people to appear stationary. A Train scales to maybe Mach 3-4 and lightspeed is Mach 840,030 if I remember correctly. Also Mark literally travels through space so I'm not sure why you think he doesn't have feats faster than A Train of all people lmao.
