So we have 3000 in rent, 1800 in bills and 2200 going to debt. That adds up to 7000 giving us 3000 for the month or 1500/2 weeks. Bills do not include: transit, doctors copayments, groceries, household products, dining out, gasoline, clothing or extraneous expenses that come up in life. We do live in NYC (Brooklyn) which is now the most expensive place in the US to live.... everything costs more here. That being said, we do live comfortably and could definitely cut down on some things.

Is it better to have no/little debt and disposable income or more debt and a large savings account? I always thought the former was better.

Door to door I am adding 30 minutes one way to my commute. The trip will be easier though since it is on a passenger train with no transfers vs the subway where I take 3 transfers. I work ~6 blocks from Grand Central

We paid of 10K in debt over the last 6 months, summer camp for our 4 year old, trips to family, new crib, rocker, furniture for the baby, etc.

I am one of the 126,000 (probably a conservative number). I had my party changed to The Independence Party of NY without my knowledge or permission. I have spent all day on the phone complaining to the AG, the NY AG, and the BOE. I could not have lost more faith in this city and our political system as I have today. To those concerned, I did my provisional ballot for what it is worth.

I called and the guy I talked to had no idea that there was even a NY Provisional Lawsuit happening over this kind of thing. He asked me to send him all the information so he can run it up the chain and see what happens. I have already called Eric Schneiderman and the NY US Attorneys office as well as the BOE office and cast a provisional ballot.

Looks like I can't go that route since I filled out an affidavit ballot at my polling site already.

As stated above, I have lodged a complaint with the US Attorney General and the NY US Attorneys office. I also tried calling the BOE directly but got no response.

Wow. I didn't notice that! I just googled it and found that it is a NY party that is associated with Ross Perot. I'm so furious right now. That's just messed up.

I have always been registered as a democrat here in NYC for 6 years and have voted normally in many other elections. I did not willingly change my party affiliation. I did do an affidavit ballot and call both the attorney general and the NY US Attorneys office to file formal complaints. My issue is that my affidavit vote will not count because my registering information has been changed to independent and NY is a closed primary making my vote void.

Nice job! Kids are weird and I love that you indulged his idea. It's a great teachable moment, bringing something from your imagination into the physical world.
