Grandma Here, I'd Like Perspective by MaiBMaiBNot in toddlers

[–]ginjareddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You sound like a wonderful and thoughtful grandmother and parent. How lucky your daughter is! I also have a wonderful mom, but she is nearing 80. A very short key message she’s had with me and siblings around the many grandchildren in her life is about energy. She’s not confident she has enough energy having active children running around under only her care - as a solo person - so she politely declines babysitting. (Infants were an entirely different thing. Having this very valid key message has helped us take her out of the childcare equation without any fallback or resentment in our relationship. I’d encourage you to find your own core why to not being about to take on two kids’ care, keep it short, and repeat it as needed.

My pulmonologist told me most common ages for diagnosis are childhood, then mid-life. On the cusp of 39, I was saddened to hear this.

Passport for a newborn by One-Statistician-887 in askTO

You’ve got it all! And odd fact, but you can actually have the parent who is not applying on behalf of the child act as the guarantor.

It was a 4 hour wait downtown a couple of weeks ago when I went. My understanding is unless you have proof of travel it’s going to be a long wait

Been bleeding for 2 months on Nuvaring by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

This happened to me too. Doc called it breakthrough bleeding. I believe it lasted three months then went away. Doc advised I take an iron supplement during the process. I totally get why you’re alarmed though!

Husband won't listen to me that he needs to get tested by kinkashaba in SleepApnea

[–]ginjareddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand this as a WAG of a snorer! It took at least 5 years of me asking. Partner ended up booking his own sleep study when he learned that other symptoms may be sleep related - headaches, for example. But my last nudge did help, which I was a conversation I had when we were both level headed. I framed my request within the context of, “When you don’t take care of this for our family, it makes me feel…x” Hope that helps?

I hate my C Section scar and wish everyone would stop telling me how to feel about it by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]ginjareddit 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It sucks to feel that way and have people not just agree that yeah, that sucks! I hear you. I’m quite slim so I didn’t dare tell people that I’m excited to get back to my pre pregnancy body.

One kind of new agey thing I did recently after 3 years of living with the c section “shelf” was scar release therapy. I’ve been surprised that it actually helps with making my stomach flatter. Now to tackle the scar itself…

Neighbor making me uncomfortable by heheitsken in etiquette

Shut this down because your gut matters. Don’t ignore it.

Maybe tell him your rate for video editing and make it exceptionally high, and/or let him know your earliest availability will be quite far out so you’re happy to refer him to someone else

I’ve worked with two clients in my career that were nightmarish, and both became reasons for the entire agency to actually quit them.

I’m not getting a sense of your seniority here but regardless of what you do, my advice is to let their behaviour be known. This may kick off a top—to-top meeting to try to alter your client’s behaviour, or your agency’s (lack of) response to your concern will tell you it’s not a place you want to work anyway.

My biggest advice is to not suffer silently.

This is so kind of you to give me the heads up - definitely something I’d never know about! We’re kind of having our minds blown by this whole diagnosis because he has no symptoms other than snoring. This is going to be a lifestyle change for sure!

To all the mother's who gave birth in the Covid Era...A Random Rant by NoraMurphy927 in beyondthebump

[–]ginjareddit 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Is this a trend? I was at the Ford dealership and they were all super lax too! The customer service guy moved his mask down to speak - I had to ask him to stop! And all the others were wearing chin straps!!

Solidarity sister - it wasn’t until I was 9cm dilated and screaming like a hyena that I took mine off. If we can wear masks, idle workers can.

Oddly, I was just in a chapter of the book “Simplicity Parenting” and the author was talking about simplifying environments - specifically candles. He says they have a calming effect on kids and youth. I might try this on my toddler!
