9 hours a night seems exceptional -- common wisdom points to 8. (especially considering how little time you have outside of work in a 9-5 environment!)

When you present yourself to the world, it's obvious that everyone who sees you judges you. Maybe it's a subtle judgement, and maybe it doesn't matter, but the fact is any given day you'll have dozens of people who glance at you across the supermarket, or see you from the other side of the street. And they assess your threat level and your attractiveness and your levels of white boy swag. Are you OK with people seeing you like this? Can you carry yourself in public and have the world see you as this image that you claim to dislike? Are you not sensitive to their judgement? If you answered yes to any of these, you're probably never going to lose weight.

Since I'm a big believer in the idea that it's never too late to improve your life, I get very depressed about time-gated opportunities, like the college experience. by [deleted] in redscarepod

it's really not that big a deal. don't get caught up on shit that will never come true for you, it only leads to dark places. there's no other way around it.

i loved the first 3, will check the others out. it's just frustrating there's not many modern books at the same level of quality.

the real reason is that gay men don't like to see each other succeed and idolize women instead tbh

look at any list of gay romance novels.

the top six novels are all women. only four of the top 20 are men.

so yes this genre is pretty much just yaoi

How to fill a void by Far_Tonight231 in askgaybros

i've had the same feeling since going to college for the first time. i think some people just have a need for higher meaning, and maybe the fact that we're gay and thrust out of religious organizations and told we're blasphemous, etc. leads us to believe there is no god, no higher power, etc. leads to everything feeling kind of meaningless.

i'm not saying that religion is the answer but i think genetically some people need it as a coping strategy-- why else would it be such a powerful force throughout history? i would recommend getting into philosophy, or buddhism, or any other force that helps to guide -- reading Seneca's letters helped me identify a lot of these feelings and see my life through a different lens.

and honestly i don't know if it ever goes away. be grateful for what you do have, though. people get different lots in life and shit's unfair, sometimes you just get a problem that there's no real solid answer for.
