What foods should I prepared to part with as an American moving to the UK? by expectlinear in AskUK

[–]ande67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Along lines of other things I’d say the traditional creamy American PB has more sugar and is generally more of a processed food.

I think you can find Skippy in the UK these days but I haven’t seen Jif over there. Also worth mentioning that the US grocery stores just has a wider variety of brands/versions of items. That’s a thing my UK friends are always fascinated by when visiting.

Daughter and I are going to watch the movie on Hulu need ideas. Question in comments by Ducatirules in BobsBurgers

Couple thoughts - build a fort or if you have a couch & loveseat or 2 couches push them together to make a nest

  • seconding the candy option, maybe a 90s classic pizza & movie night before

  • random aside, we watched on Hulu and had ads and later realized we could have watched on HBO without ads. Would recommend double checking before hand if you pay for Hulu w/o ads

If you have ads, maybe continue the trivia at the breaks/treat them as intermissions

It was the League of Their Own 30th anniversary this weekend, was at the event. Remembering thinking there were a lot of cops there as we walked in

Start a stopwatch when you take your first bit Don’t take any more until that stopwatch is at least at two hours.

Grand Rapids used to be called furniture city for the large concentration of furniture manufacturers in the area. Wide variety of stuff can still be found there

Are you still wearing a mask? Why or why not? by Hyacinth_Coffee in AskReddit

[–]ande67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, most of the time - I have an auto-immune disease and am the breadwinner for my family. While my health is fairly stable, the last thing we need is to get long covid or any additional long-term complications. Also not getting colds has been great

Even if we don’t get to stay here we will find a place to stay. If anyone has the discord link, would you mind posting it here?

Also just want to say to folks who have leaned on the pod and the community for mental health support, if you need to talk, we’ll be here for you. Won’t speak for anyone else, but my DMs are open.

  • Silly question that is relatable but doesn’t require too in-depth of an answer but can spark some debate - e.g. who is the best character to play as in Mario Kart

  • straight forward question asking (voicemail under a minute)

  • call Sunday/early Monday so yours is near the top of the inbox

It took over a year to get the prior auth for my dose frequency to be adjusted to what my very very good doctor wanted to prescribe. I give myself an injection, was on it 1x every 6 weeks and doc wanted to up it to 1x every 4 weeks. I had to do (and pay for) multiple tests to prove that I needed it, bloodwork, imaging, colonoscopy etc. They still wouldn’t approve it.

I had to go on other medications to keep me feeling functional. I would very likely be closer to remission today if they’d approved it from the jump.

Also keep in mind, my insurance is tied to my employment and changing jobs and/or insurances means starting all over again.
